So here's the rest of the pictures, which I'll be putting into the Bermuda section of the UE DB shortly.

This small gallery gives a rather poor (due to picture size) overview of the base in it's heyday. I'd love to see these pictures larger, but so far I've not had any luck.

Bermadoo Interior 1 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

The Bermadoo interior; I presume the dance floor. Looks every bit as pathetic as one would expect of an establishment with such an embarrassingly silly name. Oh and apologies for some of the pictures being a bit off kilter - I was using my iPhone.

Dodgy Shore by elbowgeek, on Flickr

This shows the rather dodgy state of the retaining wall for the landfill which was used to connect the islands which make up the peninsula.

Grand Building 1 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

This is the rear of the largest remaining building on site. I didn't go in and I'm glad now having learned that they used sea water in the construction.

Cruise Boat by elbowgeek, on Flickr

A small tour boat abandoned here. We're now at the very tip of the peninsula which seems to have a large open area, originally to accommodate sea plane operations.

Possibly Remains of Old Water Tower2 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

The remains of a large wooden structure at the tip which I only ever saw at a distance growing up. I'm still trying to figure out what it was.

My Chemical Romance 1 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

No, this isn't the Talbot Brothers setting up for a gig, they are in fact barrels left out here, full of the nastiest liquids imaginable. *Sigh*.

My Chemical Romance 2 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

I think we better get rid of them quick before the US uses them as a pretext for invasion...

Eureka 1 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

Now here we come to an interesting area. This was the ramp which the sea planes used and which has become a dumping ground for an odd assortment of boats. First is this massive beast, the Eureka.

Sail Boat 2 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

And then there's this nice little sailboat. This would have been quite nice when it was well taken care of. Very sad to see it in this state.

Eureka - Been There a While by elbowgeek, on Flickr

Wow, you can see how long this has been sitting here. This is due to the fac that it's a wooden boat and obviously much warpage has taken place. Oddly I don't recall seeing this boat plying our waters, so maybe it's been here for a lot longer than I think.

Garbage Bags 1 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

There were these massive stacks of plastic-wrapped household garbage here, which is very odd as we have an incinerator which is supposed to take care of all this. I'd like to know the story behind this.

Trailer Trash 1 by elbowgeek, on Flickr

Yes, even Bermuda has its trailer trash. I actually think this is cute as hell and I'd love to fix it up. Although where you'd take it to go camping here on the island is a mystery.

Garbage Bag Stairway to Heaven by elbowgeek, on Flickr

I just liked the visual texture of this, looking up at one of the large stacks of garbage.

Original Guard Hut by elbowgeek, on Flickr

The original guard hut.

I did promise a panorama I stitched together of the open area at the tip, but it seems Flikr squooshes large photos mercilessly when you have only the free account. I've signed up for the pro account and as soon as my payment is authorized I'll try uploading it again. The pano is huge and gives a good overview of what it looks like down there.

Edit: Here's the direct link to my Flikr page with the pano. It's waaaay too large to post here in full size! Just click on the magnifying glass and then the All Sizes option to get to the full size image.
