| | | These photos are from a scouting mission this afternoon. I had heard about this place a few years ago and just never made it over there until today. It was at one time a water filtration plant and must have been abandoned at least 10 years ago. The place is enormous and oddly untouched. I didn't see any graffiti or for that matter ANY signs of hobos, dumping, or really any interference aside from a little area just inside the gate where the city has very neatly stored a few things. Almost the entire area is surrounded by a berm which has become overgrown with trees and brush, so once you're in, you're isolated. I intend to go back very soon (to beat the impending mosquito plague) and spend a full day, so many more pics to come.

the last time I was there it was so bad that I had to hold a stick in front of me as I walked so I wouldnt walk through any webs! It's a incredible spot. Did you get to see the building that has all the "treatment" records and turtle shells?

No, I just sort of got the lay of the land, climbed a few of the tressels over the tanks and explored a few of the small pump rooms. I was only there for a little over an hour. The thing I REALLY want to explore is "the maze", but I didn't have any rope with me and didn't see any stairs or ladders. Have you posted pics or stories on any other sites? If so I may have found out about this place from you! No location was listed, so I scoured Google Earth for hours until I found it, but never went until today.

| | | I only covered about a third of the place. Only a scouting mission. I'm taking rope and other gear next time. I'm still just amazed that so many UEers seem to have been there, but there's no sign of people tagging or hobo-camping or shooting up or anything like that. In all the years I've crept around I've NEVER seen that. Incidentally, if anyone wants to tag along, I'll be going again either Sunday or some time next week. PM me and let me know. I hope to make a full day of it (the place is huge) so let me know if you want to ride with me but have time constraints.
