Old "haunted" mansion in Fairfax OK

I'm still trying to find some history on this place, but all I get from the locals is "oh, the haunted house?" I went through it from top to the basement and ne'er an orb, cold spot, electromagnetic disturbance, feelings of being watched, or anything whispering "Get out!". However, it would make a great Halloween spook house because I could scare the **** out of somebody in this place.

I'm guessing construction in the mid 1920's, probably by an Osage Indian family during the oil boom. The house is at the end of a loooong driveway and practically isn't visible from the road. The grounds consist of the house proper, detached garage with mother in law apartment above, wooden house I'm guessing was used as a servants quarters, A large barn and smaller outbuildings where behind the property.

Someone had been on the property recently hacking some of the trees back and the yard was actually in decent shape, though it was probably done in the fall as it looked like nothing had been touched in awhile.

1. The entrance

2. The house from the driveway.

3. The house from the northwest.

4. The house from the southeast.

5. Front view and main entrance.

6. Front Porch.

7. Front Door.

8. Front entrance and family room.

10. Dining Room.

11. Sun room/library.

12. Kitchen

13. Pantry with basement entrance. No handle and nailed shut.

14. Mud room with 25 cent sodas.

15. This bathroom was scary.

16. The stairway.

17. 1st bedroom. I don't remember playing this one.

18. Master bedroom with something unexpected.

19. Another bedroom

20. Upstairs bath.

21. Back down the stairs.

22. Out the back door.

23. Old pump.

24. The basement entrance.

25. Looks like original hardware and light switch.

26. Some old newspapers and tv guide. Anybody else remember these?

27. The basement proper.

This should be in a Lennox museum.

28. Headed out.

29. The garage.

The upstairs entrance was on the back, but has collapsed, not that I would have trusted the floor anyway.

30. The old barn.

31. This old Scout was on the other side of the garage. The top was over near the servants quarters.

32. The servants quarters was just the shell.

The guttering was still largly in place, though the roof had several bad leaks. I could tell someone had done some cleanup, but I have no idea who currently owns the property or their plans

Awesome! Very, very nice set, I like your style. I love abandoned houses like this. You can tell someone elderly lived here, the rail on the stairs is for one of those lift systems.

BTW nice Ranger. 1999 3.0 liter automatic?

Ooo, nice, the 4.0 is a hell of an engine. I've had several Rangers, my current daily driver is an 08 Ranger with a 2.3 auto. I don't really like much that Ford makes at all, but jesus they can make a sturdy little truck. My last daily driver that I had since I was 15 was a 1994 Ranger with the 3.0, big offroad tires and the works, that thing almost literally went to hell and back and just kept on ticking for way too long. Let's see... That poor truck went 5,000 miles between oil changes (know better now!), accidentally set it on fire once, drove it into a lake and sank it twice, got in three major accidents and never replaced a single drivetrain part, quite often towed or hauled more than twice it's recommended limit, and I drove it like a bat out of hell and it served me well for more than 5 years.

I lived in McAlester and Norman and ever still it's not like you got to drive far to get in the middle of no where. I just did not really explore then.

Where people will believe that anything is "haunted" and this places doesn't seem like anything out of the ordinary, i probably would have spooked myself going into the basement.

oh! and i liked the procession of windows that gets smaller looking into the stairwell...really, what's the point?
