I'm not sure if this would count as an escape or not.

This happened about a month ago. (time of event: about 4am)
We(5) had successfully completed a hit in a local abandoned power station, followed by a walk on the river, and had made it out and back to our car. Upon pulling out of the apartment complex we had parked at, located at the end of a dead end street, we were pulled over by a cop that was posted out right in front of our hit(many blocks(located where this dead end street actually started). As he casually walked up to my car, asking the typical license and registration, more cops began to show up in both marked and unmarked cars(I'd guess about 6 cars with multiple officers in some).
Of course, the only thought running through my head "omg, we're going to jail! omg, we're going to jail! omg, we're going to jail! omg, we're going to jail! omg, we're going to jail! omg, we're going to jail!" Straight up PANIC MODE!
Then all five of us were asked to get out of the car before I could even FIND my registration. My car was then searched. After emptying all of our pockets, backpacks, etc etc, one of the officers hoods was covered with our urbexing gear. Multiple flashlights, pocket knifes, a butterfly knife(which is illegal in my state), 6 respirators, a camera with pictures of the inside of the building, a lock picking set, multiple tools, and much more. His hood was covered...
Of course, upon finding the respirators the only things the cops would talk about were taggers. "TAGGERS!", "Looks like we've got ourself some taggers", BLAH BLAH BLAH. After much chat, we had to explain that we were not taggers, we were only there as photographers, explorers and that we were not meaning to cause any harm, etc etc etc.
So, after spending about 45 minutes going from one car bumper to the next, getting our pictures taken, names ran, lots of explaining and then getting scolded for being in a very bad neighborhood after dark(and me mentioning that my dad is also a cop >.>) they told us to get all our stuff of their hood and that they better not catch us there after dark again...
They talked about how there were better places around (insert city here) to explore, and that you don't have to get into these bad neighborhoods to find old buildings O.o (my mind was blown at that point). They basically said they didn't care if we urbexed as long as it wasn't in their neighborhood.
Now, after getting all our stuff together and firing my car back up, we slowly drove away... that is until we hit the express way. After that i took off, my thought being "Go!Quickly! Before they change their minds!!!"
This was over a month ago and I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around it lol

A few years back, a friend and i were in the second floor offices of Opsal Steel, overlooking Main and Quebec Streets in Vancouver, hiding out. Five-O had just seen us enter and were following us right inside. Of course, they didn't know the building like we did. From our office, we called in a fabricated assault around the corner at the gelato store. Violence trumps trespass, problem solved.

I wouldn't recommend this approach as it is a crime to make a false claim such as this, but in a pinch it worked. They left, we left. The next night we were back.

Being arrested is not the same as being imprisoned.

I don't know of anyone who has been imprisoned for UE related activities alone, without being guilty of more serious charges.

Being imprisoned is not the same thing as being jailed.

Granted, I don't know of any off the top of my head who've been imprisoned, but I can think of quite a few incidences that they've been taken to jail.

Seems like depending on who owns the property and what's on it, you could end up doing prison time.
Like Area 51, an active nuke plant, etc.

I think several people have ended up in jail after drunkenly UE'ing the inside of functional automobiles.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)
