Sweet pics! The first and last few pics remind me of the Fallout series...

Nice set! So did you get pics of the other houses, or are you planning to go back?

We've made two trips to the house and are planning a third with better equipment. The first trip we only went into the inmate house and one of the other ones but it was literally uninteresting in every way so I didn't even bother to post. The house right next door to the inmate house we were about to go into when I noticed a very fresh handprint on the dusty as hell garage door, went to look, and there was evidence of a struggle, more handprints, streaks where someone had clawed at it, etc, and before I could even get my camera out to take a pic I heard movement inside the house, and given struggle + violent felon hobo living next door we decided discretion is the better part of valor and beat it, scouted the egg farm and went home.

The second trip we checked out the Mahard Egg Farm [/shameless plug] and while we where in the area went back and checked out the rest of the houses, of the three we didn't previously visit, one of them in the trailer in the link above, in one, I got out of the truck and started walking the perimeter to try and see if anyone was inside, and while I was walking out back, the ground underneath me gave way and I damn near fell into septic tank as the ancient concrete lid gave way, some amazing fat-guy acrobatics (flailing madly and re-evaluating my life) kept me from falling in the decade old poo... The third house is still active, nobody is living there but someone is using the ample yard as storage for farm equipment, and I don't like messing with active properties, although that house was the biggest and would have been freaking cool to see. We did go back to the second house from the first trip, the inmate's neighbor, and got inside... It's totally trashed by teenagers, EVERYTHING was destroyed. Kind of cool to see the destruction though. I'll post a report on it whenever I can be bothered.

Went back to the inmate house on the second trip. Stuff had been moved around, the papers where found hidden in a drawer instead of stacked on a shelf, and some clothes had magically appeared. The shank and the mysterious tinfoil package were still there, this time I opened the tinfoil, totally drugs. Either cocaine and heroin. I know my way around softer drugs like a champ but I don't know the harder stuff too well. We also found the attic access, there was tons of stuff in there, bins and bins and bins of it. I'd love to bring a stepladder and see what's up there.

Seriously!?! That's just plain sick, imo. Why would anyone have that around a cemetary....creepy sicko!

Necrophilia obviously. Just sayin'.

That's pretty creepy that people were there living so close to such a property. I couldn't imagine living in such circumstances.

Wow....Captain_slow - thank you! This was a great pre-lunch read!

Although I think I peed a little after laughing so hard over the 'fat-guy acrobatics, reevaluating my life" statement.

Love it!

Did you check out any storm sites to see if there was a tornado/tsunami/hurricane in the area (sorry - we don't have these natural disasters in my area. Just Snow, More snow and holy F snow). That would explain the shed and broken in glass.
Although, the broken IN glass could also be from an angry victim of the robbery or possibly the inmate himself freaking out.

Try to find the owner's name for the house....what if he killed his parents...Eek!

I'm typing this with my middle fingers.

Thanks!

I still have the name and the info on the guy that was released from prison, he defiantly lived there at some point recently before it was abandoned and from what I can tell he was the last owner or occupant. The problem is it's in the country, which means it falls under the jurisdiction of the county for recordkeeping and not a city, and counties are notorably lax at keeping records, so after about 2006 any history on the house or the occupants just falls into a black hole.

Looking up storms in a database won't really help, down here and especially in my area tornadoes and mondo heavy wind storms are a dime a dozen, and they will seriously F a house up. I've lived through many tornados, you just pay the insurance $100 a month and once a year or so they replace your windows and shingles, haha. Even more so for a house like this way out in the country on an open plain with nothing around it to break the wind, even on a still day in town the wind out there will be 10-15mph. I think it's storm damage because certain things like the plank shoved THROUGH a wall and the front door through the front window take just too much strength behind it for vandals... Plus I'd think if it was vandals, they would be graffiti, missing wiring, beer cans/cigarette butts, etc, and it was pretty clean... Plus there was a LOT of water damage inside.

Very nice details! Thanks for sharing

Wow...tornadoes...we don't have anything like that. We had an 'earthquake' in the summer. Very minor - but it did cause some damage:

DEFINITELY let me know when you guys head back out there. If you don't mind the company, I'd love to see the whole area. As far as gear goes I have 2 ladders and all manner of other potentially useful stuff. Just let me know what to bring.

No matter where you go, there you are

HAHA! Fat man acrobatics. NICE. Were you screaming "OH, SHIT!" while you gracefully foundered about? Falling into that septic tank would have been tragically hilarious.

**********UPDATE!!!**********

The Inmate's house now possibly has a semi-active population. Drove by around 11pm on 4/30/11 and there was a green Chevy pickup chilling outside with several people around it heading for the house.

I'm curious, was anyone out there exploring, as I put it in the UE DB, or is someone moving in?

Wow. This is great stuff. I'd be way to scared to go back once I found out some certifiably violent ex-con is living there.
