Fave House

So here are some pics that I've been meaning to post. It's a house that I pass every time I go down to the valley. It's an old victorian house. The lady passed away about maybe 8 years ago. From what I've been told by a lady at the local museum, the kids had been fighting about who would get how much when the house would get sold. So instead of selling it, they're just letting it crumble. It's really sad because it is a very beautiful house. I know that the son that has poa over it has gotten many offers but always denies them. I just wish that they would hand it over to the historical society so that it could be preserved. Anyway, here they are, enjoy!1.

Thanks guys!

Yea, you've gotta love the needles. That was one thing I didn't expect to find in there at all. Especially in a town like that, but I guess it just goes to show you that it's everywhere.

I've gone in maybe 3 times. Even got my mom to go in with my sis and I one time. That was our main objective for our mini trip once, lol There's also a servants quarters but nothing really left of it. I'll have to look for some of those photos but the roof is just all collapsed. There was some sort of cellar too. Here's 2 of that.

Interesting interiors, lots to see there.

Do you have any exterior images? I'm always curious about the architecture of a place.

I actually do but need to find them. Thought about that after I posted the pics. I'll look through my external tomorrow.

I can see why this is your favorite place, it's so pretty. It would be so cool if someone could fix it up.

What a shame to let such a cool house like that waste away.

Nice find! Wonderful old house.

Having just finished selling my Mom's estate I can tell you that it's quite a complicated process. If all parties involved don't agree on a plan then nothing happens. Gets even more complicated if the deceased re-married and the spouse had kids from a previous marriage. That's why it's so important to have a will. If there was a lean on the house the lender would have taken it back but maybe she owned it and the kids couldn't agree on what they wanted to do and there it sits. You can do some research about the property on the county tax records web site.

I actually have looked into it. High taxes, but they're getting paid. It's also listed as unstable to live in. My sis and I are tempted to just go in there and clean as much as we can, but I know it would be useless. I've been tempted in calling the guy that has poa over it, but then it would probably cause him to take other measures. Really hate seeing it crumble like that. I passed by there in January and that one pillar that I took a pic of has actually gotten worse. Sure wish we could buy it.

There is some great stuff in there. Awesome set. Its sad when people have to fight over something as stupid as money and have to destroy the one beautiful thing there loved one left behind for them. But then again there are a lot of stupid people out there, and you kinda got to thank them for being so dumb. Without them you would have never seen the beautiful house. So for that we thank them and thank you for sharing.

“We must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.”

Really love the picture of the cellar entrance and the sepias of the exterior. Pictures really run the gamut of emotions and feels. Good to see so many people genuinely concerned about conserving or preserving places like this.

Wow...looks like it's in a city or town somewhere...probably too much ambient light for me to shoot it properly at night. Still, damn cool place...

Thanks guys!

@Dripik, you are so right, but for a house like that is sad.

@Imbroglio, it's a small little town. Night shots probably wouldn't be too good because it's on a busy main street, but inside would probably work.

The lady at that small local museum showed us a picture of another even bigger beautiful house. The lady that owned the house put in her will that it be demolished when she passed away, so that's what happened. She obviously did it so that the kids wouldn't be fighting over it. Too bad there wasn't a Historical Society in those times.

There are many other houses in the area that are victorian as well. They've been preserved and restored for the most part, which is a good thing.
