| | Abandoned half-finshed mansion/lodge or something??? < on 2/15/2011 10:55 PM >
| | | Right off I35N. PrivateJoker and I. I have no idea what this place is, but it's an enormous mansion or lodge that was under construction for the longest time, and then I guess something happened because work just stopped. The place is littered with supplies, beams, wood, doors, but it all hasn't been touched in about 8 years. I remember seeing them start on it when I was a kid in 1997 or so, then they stopped in 2000, then picked up again briefly in 2003 and quit again shortly thereafter. Accessibility is difficult, right off a major highway, next door to a school and an active construction site. Very freaking cool place though. We found some writing on a dry erase board that indicated that the place had been sitting untouched since 2003, and everything inside looks like it has been. I think it's a incredible find because there is NO vandalism or graffiti ANYWHERE, except one post in the attic someone wrote their name and a date, probably a construction worker. Everything has 8 years worth of dust on it, plus there is some wicked mold. If you have ANY allergies I'd bring a respirator. 1. Outside view
2. Inside view of main room, 1st floor
3. Left of main room, tons of PVC pipe
4. Propane fireplace
5. Big ass doors left inside
6. The newest thing in the place... Fucking hipsters
7. 3 stories of goodness, main staircase
8. 2nd floor is even more unfinished.
9. Dry erase board. Can't make any sense of it.
10. Fireplace on 2nd floor
11. Electricals have all been stripped out
12. INTO THE DARKNESS MOFO; 3RD FLOOR
13. Looking out of the 3rd floor
14. PrivateJoker on the 3rd floor
15. Someone was up here, once. Used tealights in the 3rd floor.
16. Looking down
17.

| | | Wow nice. Probably wouldn't take much to finish either. Is this the first place you've been that doesn't have a hobo camp?

Makes sense, there was a thing on the dry erase board that says "FIRST LOAN FUNDED 11/21/2003"... So maybe they ran out of funding... I'm amazed this place hasn't been vandalized to all hell.

| | | That's sad. I think it will be torn down if anything, the basement is flooded, there are holes in the roof, and the electricals are gone. Those big gates are now around back leaning against the house, there is stonework trash all over the front lawn and the mentioned barn is gone.

Just proves my point that horse women are crazy and the horse business is a great way to lose a fortune!.

| | | Thanks for this. For years I have been driving past this house, and it always struck me as a kid. It has been burnt down more than once. I am glad someone mad it in and documented it. I think this is the same house that has burnt down many times. If I remember correctly it has been there in various forms since I was a child. 25 years ago.

Really? If it burned down then man they did a good job of restoring it! Not saying I doubt you at all, it's very impressive what a good cleanup and reconstruction crew can do!

It has been restored several times if my memory serves me correct. It sat burnt for years. Used to scare me when I was kid going back and forth from Ft Worth To OKC. Props again.

Thank you again! If that's the case then I REALLY, REALLY want to get into the basement crawlspace now. I bet there's all kinds of cool relics of the fires and visible damage.
