Just saw these. They look pretty impressive. Would be amazing to explore, anyone in Russia on these forums? I'd be keen if i ever go to Russia

| | | | I think that is in the Baikonur complex in Kazakhstan. The Buran shuttle in the photos is a test bed mockup. Did you notice the shot of a hangar with some roof damage? I may be very wrong but that may be the grave of the orbiter used for the programs only flight into space. The roof collapsed during renovations and crushed the shuttle. Too bad Buran didn't continue as it was a pretty good program...the similarities to the US shuttle were really only skin deep.

Well, the photographer on that site didn't seem too fussed. But then again I notice the pics are all of outside stuff - no interior shots of those sweet looking buildings.
I find the Russian space program to be fascinating and a bit weird (but in a cool, cold war type way). Gonna search for some good books on this subject to add to my library.
You may think you can fly.....but you'd better not try it. |
