|  | | | Not to far from the city of Corfu up in the hills lies one of the most stunning ghost towns Ive had the chance to visit....to date. These photos were taken back in the spring of 2009.
Basically this town was settled a few hundred years ago when these people were fleeing the Romans from what is now Albania, which was literally just across the water.
Due to the development of better technology down in Corfu town, IE. sewers, electricity, running water, the town was eventually abandoned early in the 1900's. Sorry for the shoty history but its all my aging brain can remember by this point.
Let it be known that due to the huge tourism industry on the little Island of Corfu, property values are skyrocketing. Thus this once hidden and abandoned town is going up for sale house by house and it wont be long until its just one more over priced tourist town.
For example: One little square box of a home made up of only one room. Constructed completely of field stone, with a dilapidated wooden roof, trees growing inside. Definitely needed some work but was still going for 120 Euros. Someones grandkids are making it big!
None the less here are the photos from the trip.
Freedom lies in pastimes that are a little odd and slightly illegal!
