Why you should take your time and not get in a hurry

So I ended up exploring an old abandoned cave this week. I got impatient and didn't want to wait for the ladder so I decided to hop down the 6 ft wall instead. I was stupid and didn't spend the time to gauge my surrounding and ended up rolling the shit out of my ankle. I got off lucky because I could still explore this weekend with the aid of mouthfuls of ibuprofen but it could have been much worse. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE. If you don't access your surrounding correctly and get in a hurry you WILL get hurt

happened visiting a location this weekend. but didnt involve any drop... we were surveyin the surroundings from the roof, and security drove by with a spotlight and pointed it in our direction. we proceeded to dive backwards to get out of sight because we only saw him at the last minute. it resulted in a bruised elbow, scraped side, and a minor scuff to my shin. I learned my lesson about rushing and not being more careful!

Edit: yes I am aware it's not a big deal, and this was a lot worse, but i figured it wouldn't hurt to let people know, to always be alert, watching for security or police, and to survey and study their surroundings

Wow, that looks really painful. I'm thinking it kinda sucks to be you right now! I "almost" snagged my ass on a nail climbing into an abandoned mansion Thurs night.

Omph! I hope that heals soon for you, I had a bruise once after falling on a nice piece of steel that lasted me a good month or so.

Well the bad news is I walked all over the place exploring 2 huge abandonment complexes and the cave we were camping in. I did it Friday night and we just got home a few hours ago and only got like 5 hrs of sleep during that time...... The good news is that I happened to take this next week off cause I have a bunch of vacation I gotta burn so it works out quite nicely. It looks like I'm just going to sit on my ass and start playing Fall Out: New Vegas

Rolling your ankle that bad wouldn't matter if you wearing boots or not.

I once grabbed a window frame with broken glass on it to get out of a location. Thought my construction gloves could handle the few remaining bits of glass. They couldn't.

Didn't even notice until I took the gloves off. Shallow cuts only. Alcohol pads + band-aids were plenty good.

Going to reinforce the gloves with some foam and duck tape.

It's harder to roll your ankle wearing boots. I've done it (in full length bates), but it's harder and the boots lessen the degree of the injury.

Why foam?
Have you considered mechanics gloves?

Foam as just some soft stuff between my hands and sharp stuff.

I haven't considered mechanics gloves before. I'll take a look at some next time I'm near a hardware store.
