Southwest Michigan Tuberculosis Sanatorium

Any posters from around here visit this location as of recently (being the last year or so)? I have done more then enough research on the location to understand the gist of the area, patrols, and the condition of the building itself, but am inquiring to if in fact the tunnel system under the building is still accessible.

I'm not inquiring to the location of this system, just if it still exist. I've had my eye on this place for quite some time and haven't had the time to commit to a full day of reconnaissance, as I'm a few hours out from Kalamazoo. Any information will be appreciated

If anyone is down to venture this place, hit me up.

Cheers

It was there a year ago, I doubt they have done anything with it since then.

I know that they've bricked the place up, but that's about it.

I was there in '07 and we got in through the third floor with the help of a flexi-ladder thing. I do not know if they've done anything since. I have looked and looked and it seems no one has been in or at least written about it since then. Very amazing building however. The 1st and second floor were of course pitch black because of the brick. Great spot if it's still there make sure to bring a ladder.

That's an extremity in securing a building...

Looks easy enough if you have one of those folding ladders....do they still sell those thing? You know, the one that was sold by the guy off of Home Improvement....

I don't know why people have to break every window in one of these places...stupid idiots.

...doubtless resulting from an extremity in douchebaggery pissing off the neighbors.

yeah, for one reason or another a lot of the old hospitals, asylums, and sanitariums are either bulldozed, bricked up, or watched by the police like hawks. Kind of a shame seeing all the rich history still left behind in these places, but what can you do. It's a mash up between this place or the one in Mt Pleasant, though the one there supposedly has a slew of cameras, motion detectors, and police officers who constantly patrol the grounds and surrounding fields.

nuts if you ask me, but there are not too many left here and the few that are have been set up to be demolished within the next year or so.

Really no big loss, the place was pretty much empty when I last visited in early 2008; back then everywhere you see the new conc. block was wide open!

I've survey the outside of this place several times, but I've never been inside. The talk around the neighborhood is that this building was used frequently for fraternity hazings, so you can expect it to be pretty torn up inside. If anyone is planning to visit, the site is slated for demo this summer...so you'd better hurry.
