| | Is anyone on this forum because of the documentary about UE? < on 10/26/2010 4:55 AM >
| | | I watched the documentary called "Urban Explorers: Into the Darkness" on Netflix. After seeing it, i did a google search and found this site. I've been doing this stuff for a long time and i had no idea there was a ton of people that were into the same stuff as me. Anyone else in the same boat?

| | | I've been here for years...but i was amused to see the online version of Steal This Book actually suggests uer.ca as a place to find abandonments in which to squat if living homeless.

| | | I think it's a little weird for people to watch the documentary without knowing of or at least being interested in UE...all the decay and mold and rust, it's really an aesthetic, and a lot of people just think it's gross or dangerous. I got into urbexing because I love taking pictures of decay and rot, and I was on some railroad tracks one day and my dad pointed out I was next to an old Coke and Gas company. COMMENCE OBSESSION!

| | | Yep; I started poking around for information on UER right after I saw the documentary. I think it's a neat concept to try to network a group that you would otherwise think impossible to network. It looks like it's been working for a while now.

| | | I was always exploring abandonned and not-so-abandonned places.... one night some young guy wanted me and Tekriter to bring him into the Canada Malting Plant in Toronto. He came along, had lots of fun with Tekriter and myself, and then decided to start UER.CA Thanks for the site Av! Several years later, here we are, a community of like-minded individuals, glad you found us, good luck in your explorations.

| | | I found it through doing research on the Belchertown State School. I wanted to see what everyone else was shooting there, since all I knew was what I was doing. I had *no* idea there were other people that enjoyed the same thing- nontheless the fact that there was a name for it! [last edit 10/27/2010 5:05 PM by Liska - edited 1 times]

| | | My friend has been an urban explorer for the last few years and he pointed me to this site after me and him started exploring together. I heard about the documentary being on Netflix here on the forum and watched it one night.

Sure. http://www.uer.ca/...d=1&threadid=60002 There is a lot of good info at the top of the rookie forum in the sticky threads (with the thumbtacks) Reading all that will help keep you from looking dumb Although if you're anything like me you'll still manage

| | | I've loved abandonments since I was a kid. When I really got into it as an adult I was googling locations and came across infiltration and then uer. The documentary was neat. It was cool to see locations I'll probably never get to see and to see people from the forums on there as well.
We were here...and it was glorious. |
