Is anyone on this forum because of the documentary about UE?

I watched the documentary called "Urban Explorers: Into the Darkness" on Netflix. After seeing it, i did a google search and found this site. I've been doing this stuff for a long time and i had no idea there was a ton of people that were into the same stuff as me. Anyone else in the same boat?

Life's too short, so do what you want.

Nah, I got here as follows:

Go in drains
Find cave clan's Approach.txt
Find infiltration.org
Find uer.ca

Orly showed the documentary to me a few months ago though.

I've been here for years...but i was amused to see the online version of Steal This Book actually suggests uer.ca as a place to find abandonments in which to squat if living homeless.

I think it's a little weird for people to watch the documentary without knowing of or at least being interested in UE...all the decay and mold and rust, it's really an aesthetic, and a lot of people just think it's gross or dangerous.

I got into urbexing because I love taking pictures of decay and rot, and I was on some railroad tracks one day and my dad pointed out I was next to an old Coke and Gas company. COMMENCE OBSESSION!

We're all just trapped between the stippled earth and the stubbled sky.

Yep; I started poking around for information on UER right after I saw the documentary.

I think it's a neat concept to try to network a group that you would otherwise think impossible to network. It looks like it's been working for a while now.

I was always exploring abandonned and not-so-abandonned places.... one night some young guy wanted me and Tekriter to bring him into the Canada Malting Plant in Toronto. He came along, had lots of fun with Tekriter and myself, and then decided to start UER.CA Thanks for the site Av!

Several years later, here we are, a community of like-minded individuals, glad you found us, good luck in your explorations.

I found it through doing research on the Belchertown State School. I wanted to see what everyone else was shooting there, since all I knew was what I was doing. I had *no* idea there were other people that enjoyed the same thing- nontheless the fact that there was a name for it!

My friend has been an urban explorer for the last few years and he pointed me to this site after me and him started exploring together. I heard about the documentary being on Netflix here on the forum and watched it one night.

There is a lot of good info at the top of the rookie forum in the sticky threads (with the thumbtacks) Reading all that will help keep you from looking dumb Although if you're anything like me you'll still manage

I was a member before I watched the documentary. I simply found this place on Google while searching for places around Indy.

Never seen it. Dark Days made me think about this stuff more and then found infiltration.org a while back and stumbled upon this website. Mainly my photography has led me places and I've apparently doing UE for awhile.

I've loved abandonments since I was a kid. When I really got into it as an adult I was googling locations and came across infiltration and then uer. The documentary was neat. It was cool to see locations I'll probably never get to see and to see people from the forums on there as well.

We were here...and it was glorious.

I watched the movie (on a whim) right before I started hanging out with the minneapolis explorers... and now I live there (here) in MSP!

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!
If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet!
Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies!

came across this site close to a year after I had been exploring with a friend, didn't realize it had this much popularity.

Saw the doc a few months ago.
