HAhahaha! Them walking around with a crowbar too. Best was me on the roof of the Womens Wards waving at them.

Im very upset this place is getting demo'd. It was one of my favorite places to go. My best souvenir is from this place. Nothing will ever top it.

;] You were all too excited as well lol

Sad. More like fucking disgraceful, this was home to one of the most historic buildings in Essex County.

Built in 1863 IIRC it was used as a civil war POW camp. If it had been a courthouse or a school people would be throwing themselves in front of the dozers.

Have they demolished the historic building or the lovely Deco building in #1? We can thank the same gentleman who's quietly knocking down Overbrook right now. And LOL at the time I bumped into you without knowing it there Played

Not to thread-jack, but here's my set from here

Well I'm glad I hit it when I did. Some of the place was demoed when I went and there were actually a small section past the kitchen that I missed while there.

Nice set, we have some of the same shots.

Yeah I missed some stuff too, the women's ward (cant be much different than the men's) and the power plant (which I dont recall if I've ever seen pictures of the inside).

Even on our trip there was construction going on nearby, which is why I think we skipped the power plant altogether. Too close for comfort to all the equipment and possible workers.

Probably the same stuff I missed. Were the workers up the road building houses? That area was where the Essex Mountain Sanatorium was. I went there back in 02 or 03 or so but nothing was left but a wall and some deer.

looks like an absolutely stunning place. run into any locked doors and problems gaining acces to certain rooms or wings? i feel like tht could really suck goin into prisons seeing as the prime idea if prison is to keep people in this place/certain rooms.

The womens wards were a lot cleaner and nicer then the mens. A lot of people didnt know you could get there because they didnt know about the tunnels. The tunnels lead to the womens, wardens house and power plant. I have some shots from the womens that ill post. The wardens house was boring, mostly emptied out.

As for the power plant there wasnt a whole lot to shoot. It was mainly a wreck. Just crap laying everywhere so you could barely walk anywhere. I have a few shots i think from inside that ill post as well when i get home.

There used to be some locked sections but nothing a little bending of the metal cant fix! Not all the cells were open either, but seen one cell, seen them all.

Womens ward had a it's own little infirmary and caf, and some neat files in the basement. I liked the powerplant but it was a bitch to shoot. I'll post a couple from both places

Oh memories! Me and a buddy tried forever to get the mercury out of the blood pressure gauge..and then we realize it just lifted off the wall LOL.

Now it sits on my shelf!

Kind of boring set, to be honest. jk

Was there earlier in November, and ya .. they have redeveloped the entire front area for condos. The entire place was boarded up like Fort Knox and just about ready to get pummeled by the wrecking ball.

Dude it sucks too because we only scratched the surface. I mean you saw the caf, auditorium, a few blocks, and the powerhouse. But there was a lot more for you guys to see
