just went by there, area is infested with gang members, pretty much there is only one house standing in that area. I'm not sure if its the colonist's house or not, my dvr just went out so I lost all the episodes. Anybody remember a big soccer goal up against the house?

Dude, we missed each other by an hour!!! I was litterally out there at like 345 on saturday...

Naw, I went by there on saturday, and they had leveled everything. The only thing left was slabs of the houses, and yes, random thugs. the House they were in was the one on the corner of Oak Tree and Southern Place. I looked around, took some pictures, got followed by a white truck, and then me and my girl left. The lot seems sooooo much smaller in person. The camera adds about 50 acres to the colony... I know that not all of the show was shot there, but still, it was only like three streets of area there. May have looked smaller without buildings too...

Pictures:

One from the discovery website:

Here is what I got:

Notice the tree in the following pic is also in the very first one.

This was sitting right on top of where the main house was, nothing but empty buckets and for sale signs...

Last house standing, but this was not used in the experiment

Bummer.... But it was kinda cool to get out and walk around in the footsteps of where they had filmed it...

Lastly for tonight's episode... This is where the boat was found, and where they "escaped" at...

I went out there as well while The Colony was still airing...it was actually the 5 year anniversary of Katrina.
This was the only standing abandoned home I found...I think it's the same one you shot :p

Yep, that is the one. It was on the far west end of the place, as far as i know it was not used in the show. I read somewhere on the colony website that filming ended in march 2010...

Sorry - I know this post is old, but I saw this show for the first time last night and got super excited about the abandoned area. Very cool!
Glad some explorers from our group here got to see it!

Great find!

Question - some of you mentioned 'last house standing'....did they start knocking down the houses recently?
Is this area being cleared for something?

I'm typing this with my middle fingers.
I love the smell of mold in the fall.

They just leveled it all, not sure for what... I heard something about a park... maybe they knew after the show was over people would want to find it...

Yeah that's what I was thinking right when I saw the post. It seems like it would be infested with thugs, vandals, and fans of the show would be crawling all over it.
