I like how they passed an electrical box, conveniently located 1000ft up

Seriously though, I never knew being a badass was an engineering requirement

The Viaduct runs through the Callowhill Loft District, which is overrun with hipsters. This is just another one of those things a hipster would probably do.

Got inspired and went out to climb a tower. Stayed 100 feet below the active transmitter so I topped out at around 900' on the 1041' tower.

Thats just a tether for taking breaks. I've yet to come across a cable grab I can use for fall protection, and lobster clawing slows you down so much it does more harm than good.

Its really not that dangerous. I'd rather climb a tower than walk on rotten floorboards. As long as you don't overstep the limits of your muscular endurance, have a harness on at least for taking rests, and know what a radiating mast is and to avoid them its actually quite safe compared to other things we do.

Don't worry, after your first fall from a significant height, you won't be afraid of it anymore.

round trip was about two hours I think. I took about 10 one minute breaks on the way up and two on the way down. Don't try and climb the high ones without a harness and tether to rest with. You'll climb too high, your arms will get too tired to even wrap around the ladder and you'll fall. Your muscles must get a break after a certain time. Even the best marathon runners have to take short breaks.

I expected to jadedly yawn, but this was fucking awesome! What a buzz...

Pretty badass to do the whole thing without an elevator to take you up at first Ulive. I'm impressed.

You don't use this kind of safety harness attachment in the States?

I've never seen it in NC or the RI area. May be used, but haven't come across it yet.

Is it just a friction catch/rail to catch you if you fall and keep you from falling out?
