Tourist ghosttown

We have this small town, next to a nuclear power plant, called Doel here in Antwerp and its about to be wiped away. Our government wants to expand the port. People have been evicted and squatters have taken over. On a sunny sunday its a tourist attraction. People from Belgium and Holland come over to see the results of capitalism with their own eyes, and eat ice cream.

Anyways. I thought these pics were my best, but yet again I feel that I'm missing something. Please help me on it.

The shadow in the pic bothers me, there is nothing you can do about that obviously. But I like where you positioned your horizon..

I think number 4 has really good potential. Next time you're in a place like this, try shooting from a tripod and bracketing your shots so that you can attempt an HDR shot.

In a location like number 4 where the lighting varies so much, expose for the highlights, shoot an average exposure, and shoot to get details in your shadows (which means you will blow out your highlights, but that's the beauty of hdr)

Thnx but I left HDR behind me. I'm just shooting RAW these days. The idea was to get silhouettes and a long shadow from the chair. I didnt really want detail in the shadow.

EDIT: I think it would be better if only the chair was standing there. All the other mess should be left out.

i am a huge fan of one and two. they're so mnmlst and interesting, and nice composition. who paints a mouth on a rolling panel window (probably a fine graffiti artist..)? And i am such a sucker for peeling wallpaper.

if you're afraid of what you need, look around. it won't get any better..

I love number four. It seems so lonely, so sad...

2-3 are stunning as well - Imagine how much time that artwork took..
