My first exploration - Solid Waste Incinerator

I went on my first exploration last weekend with my wife, cowtownclimber, and his family. We went to the Solid Waste Incinerator in Fort Worth. It was a nice day since we are finally getting out of the hottest part of the summer. It was a good experience for a first exploration; quiet, accessable, didn't run into any homeless, drug dealers, or cops. All in all a good time. This was also my first time using the DSLR that we recently bought so the pictures are nothing spectacular. I have posted additional photos here: http://www.flickr....72157624764542747/

Awesome pics. The face on the chair is pretty cool! And gotta love the I Heart so and so. I don't think that will ever go away. Would have liked to have seen a pic to the bottom floor through that fenced part of the floor. So I'm guessing it wasn't possible to open that door in the second pic?

We had a really good time that day. Looking forward to doing another one soon. Luckily it was really quiet and laid back that day. No drama is good.

In the flickr gallery there is a shot from below the grate/fence covering the large opening in the floor. The 'bottom floor' (photos 3 to 10 on flickr) is an open area where they would have carts/trucks where the burnt material would be collected to be removed. I had taken a shot down through the grate but it did not turn out well.

All of those doors were welded shut, there were several of them around, looked like access ports for cleaning.

Nice pics! When I went it was night time, so we didn't get to see all of it. It looks alot different in the day light.
