For my first urbex attempt, I ended up in a city a few hours away from my own (which turned out to be a wise decision). Went to a few places around Columbus; they've all been visited before. I guess it's policy to keep things on the DL here but if anyone wants more info, feel free to message me:

Steam tunnels under OSU campus: http://www.flickr....72157624742572119/

The tunnels under this campus are pretty well-known so I don't have too many reservations about referencing them by name. Students walking on campus can look through manholes and see lights underneath at night. I looked for the entrance described here http://www.infiltr...erosu/tunnel1.html but was unable to find it. The local student (friend) I went with couldn't find it either so we got in by lifting a loose manhole. But be warned, it's a very open space and right across from the busy library. The tunnels themselves have signs that correspond to the streets above and they lead to basements/maintenance rooms of buildings.

Baseball stadium: http://www.flickr....72157624742671441/

I thought this was abandoned but apparently it will be under renovations within the next year or so. Therefore, WARNING: the premises IS checked periodically by security guards. If you must go, do so during the day and be extremely careful. I did get stopped by a guard after about a half hour. But it's worth the trouble as the stadium will be unrecognizable soon.

Water Plant: http://www.flickr....72157624867116154/

Unlike the stadium, this water plant is very much abandoned, although it has definitely been active on the urbex front. The most notable feature (besides the graffiti) is the giant pool/silo structure that I assume was used for...purifying...things? There is a fence but an easy entrance via a cut hole in the brush to the right of the main locked gate.

That water plant has seen better days. Nice pics, though.

Love the pictures! Sounds like it must have been a pretty interesting first exploration. What happened with the guard that stopped you?
