| | | Posted by TicTac my parents were more concerned with getting caught trespassing and getting a police record than me getting hurt. Reasonable thing to worry about, but they can't worry/stop me if all I say is "Going to the city" or "out for the day with friends".

| | | http://news.ninems...ured-in-cliff-fall "Three teenage ghost hunters were seriously injured after jumping from a cliff while running away from police in the US. The trio were trespassing at a park in Connecticut outside a former sanatorium which has been rumoured to be haunted." Oops, nearly became ghosts themselves.
I know that a girl died in Melbourne a few years ago trying to climb the chimney of an old power station in the CBD. The chimney has been pulled down now. She might not have strictly been a UEr since the local greens group liked to paint gigantic political slogans down the side of that chimney.

I concur!! we got busted by security at a hospital, the guard asked what was in my bag, I quite happily showed him my camera and tripod and other legit explorer gear torch etc, and he just opened the gate and told us to leave after he explained how he thought we were taggers.

| | | I believe several UER members have passed away over the years for various causes - I found three from the banlist - but has anyone from this site died while exploring or otherwise because of UE? Of course, even if we can't name anyone, it doesn't mean that one of those former users who just stopped posting couldn't be one...

Some of my non-UE friends have told me that they won't be all that surprised if I just don't come home one night. They expect my mummified corpse will turn up in a decade or so when some developer starts demolishing whatever I'd been exploring.

| | | To ease your parents, you can leave the address of the place you are gong to visit, so they can call 911 when you don't return. Also you can send them a text message when you enter/leave a location. There recently was an ue-related death in Belgium. Two women where photographing in an abandoned brick factory, without flashlights. One woman fell into a hole in the ground, the other woman went looking for her and she jumped into the hole too. Both had to be freed by the fire dept. The first women died later in the hospital. Pic: Dutch article: http://www.nieuwsb...articleid=0G2OF8HG A few weeks before this there was a guy who fell through a rusty floor of a coal washing plant and was seriously injured. | | | Every year some drunk people will fall off of/into one of the two dozen grain elevators in my area to their deadly deaths, but they've never been people from the exploring community, for lack of a better word. I know one guy who died while exploring a train yard, and have had a few near-fatal experiences in my adventures, as have many of my friends. It's not a safe hobby, but I think driving to abandoned buildings is far more dangerous than exploring them.

I personally know a woman who lost her leg in a trainyard and a medic friend of mine likes to tell me the story of how his first night ever on duty he had to retrieve a teenage boys body from the yard - his head had been completely severed and he had to carry it back in a bag. I'd advise staying out of trainyards ;)

That was in the Ukraine or somewhere, wasn't it? I recall seeing that recently. In the last year or so I remember a case where a guy fell through a catwalk into some kind of large metal vat and emergency workers couldn't get him out in time. Also, I don't think we ever publicly heard, but Warcrimes' death may have been triggered by exposure to something inside a factory.

No, it was Ukraine. Pics were posted here. I was bummed out for days after seeing them. You never leave a person behind.

She went into the Ukraine tunnels with a bunch of people for a party, probably lots of drugs. They didn't know she was missing until at least the next day. Don't get drunk/high/wasted unless you know what you're doing and can get out safely while impaired. Subway tunnelers sometimes do it drunk if they always step over the third rail as a reflex.
