Some rural exploration.

I checked out a few places this weekend on my way to San Angelo, here are some photos I took during my stops.
Thurbur/Mingus: wasn't too exiting, couldn't get into the little out building behind the smoke-stack but I was able to check out the inside of the building adjacent to the restaurant. the other building is from downtown Mingus, didn't like the looks of the stairs so I didn't venture onto the second floor, perhaps another time...

I went up there with King Jalopy a couple months ago. Did you get in to the cemetery in Thurber by chance? We didn't get to go in because it was dark, but the caretaker told us to come back any time during the day and she would let us in.

Yeah that waitress gave us the key and the owner stopped our car and was like, oh sorry guys not after dark, but come back anytime. Damn!

The first house is just like mine, except I got it before structural problems set in.

Lots of work to get one like that liveable and then nice. Doing any kind of remodeling/wiring or plumbing is a bitch with those 1x12's for walls. Even the "too small to use" fireplace is almost identical

Was it 4 big rooms and then 2 smaller rooms, kitchen/porch on back?

The ceiling should have been 2" T&G strips and Im sure were removed by someone.

High dollar to find them matching to replace them. I had to drywall one ceiling and use the strips to repair others.
