Double Ghost Town Exploration Pics

About six months ago I took a trip to visit my grandparents in Victoria, and on the way, I made two stops. one by Yoakum a soon-to-be ghost town, and Cheapside, already classified as a ghost town because there is only 11 residents.

I didn't go inside many of these places, because some looked to be personal property and one was a church that was still in use. But here is most of what I got.

Abd. house in cheapside

The front of the Cheapside Post Office/Grocery Store/Butcher shop

The left front

Inside

Butcher Block

Door to the rotting cattle pen for the butcher shop- Not safe to enter.

Here is the Church and some of Yoakum...

There was this really wierd lone horse on the side of the road in the misty fog. I pulled over and watched him for about 3-4minutes and he only swished his tail like once. Never moved...

Yoakum theater twice abandoned

Abandoned Yoakum Body shop

WTF? I think it is for Horses, or cattle, but looks wierd.

Thanks. It was a beautiful day for eerie pictures, kinda my specialty. There was a thick blanket of fog, making visibility poor... Reminded me of the Stephen King story "The Mist" from The Skeleton Crew book.

Nice set. I like the one with the church. Nice photo. The weird thing in the window is a yoke. It is/was placed over the neck of two oxen or mules and then a plow or other tool was linked to the yoke. Hence the term "yoked together".

Wow. I think I just showed my age a little.

Don't worry, I knew what it was as well... We can feel old together.

LOL, thanks Happie. I think at least half of us are now middle age or older.

Bah! Middle aged is only a state of mind. You're only as old as you feel... (but I guess that makes me about 45 at times.)

I knew what a yoke was from playing Oregon Trail on the computer as a child.
I guess that shows my age as well :3

Same here, although I was kind of hoping that someone would have made a dysentery joke by now.

Lol. It has been so many years since I had seen one, I forgot what it was! I do remember it from Oregon trail now... Good Times.

I always wondered how they knew they had dysentery without aid from a doctor, then I Wikipedia searched it....

"Dysentery (formerly known as flux or the bloody flux) is an inflammatory disorder of the intestine, especially of the colon, that results in severe diarrhea containing mucus and/or blood in the feces[1] with fever and abdominal pain.[2] If left untreated, dysentery can be fatal."
