First time out

So, I went on my first venture today and I was hoping for a bit of feedback. I'm shooting with a Nikon D80. I have an SB900 flash that I am using for some shots with a diffuser. I feel like most of my shots are still a bit underexposed. Feel free to be brutal as I am just starting with this and would like to learn as much as possible.

I want your camera/speedlight. Mainly the speedlight though.

I would say the flash is totally unnecessary in almost all of the shots. If you must use it, play with the white balance so it doesn't have such a pale look. Flash can compliment a photo, but I only ever use when when I have adequate light if the backlighting is overwhelming whatever is in the foreground, ie a dark room with bright windows.

Actually pretty much the only time I use a speedlight is when I'm taking astraightforward photos or shooting an event. Or handheld at interesting angles for long exposures

The subjects of your photographs are ok, but your composition is lacking; try to balance the photograph. For example, 3 had potential, but we're stuck looking at the floor.
