Stakeout the place. Take picture if you can zoom in far enough. Binoculars are helpful. Ask the locals about the building. Actually, a few people have given my pointers on how to get in. No shit! This one old lady told me how to get into this old apartment complex, and told me what a cool hobby I had. After a few minute of lamenting about how society is so different these days, she strolled off with the parting words, "have fun, and nice meeting you!"
Normally, I wouldn't advise stating your intentions, because you will have the cops sicced on you. Information gathering is a key to Hi-vis entries.

Behind every mistake, there is a lesson.

I'm just not that great at learning them!
