random farmhouse thread

Lots of them in the area.. if there is any interest I will post some more in this thread as I make it to them. Eventful day, got chased out by that little bugger in the last pic, was about 4 of them in the house. Foot to foot they were about silver dollar size. Also found a live bird trapped in the window. Was a horrible smell in the back of the house but I couldnt find anything dead. Finished the trek by getting stuck in some deep mud for about an hour. <3 4x4 and determination.

I'm always afraid I would get shot by some dirt farmer type that actually live in houses in that bad of shape. Guess that's why I'm a city boy.

No offense to dirt farmers.

I don't think those are brown recluse spiders.
They look like this:

Notice the classic shape of a violin on it's back?
Hence the nickname "Fiddle back spider"
Nasty little creature.

Here's a tasty morsel of its handy work:

Yeah, that's a wolf spider, harmless as a kitten. They're especially fun & creepy when they've got a billion babies riding on their back. Remember, the other one isn't called a Brown *Recluse* because it likes to run around in the open.

I've got a ton of farmhouse pix I'll have to post. Here's one -- note the string from the bare bulb to the door. That's what us rednecks call an in-prompt-you light switch.

Yeah, that's a wolf spider, harmless as a kitten...

Any spider that is as big as a silver dollar would still cause me to squeal and run away from a place. In fact, any spider of decent size may cause me to squeal and run away, so I guess the silver dollar size is somewhat irrelevant.

And now for a farmhouse

And it's windmill

Yeah, that's a wolf spider, harmless as a kitten.

I believe a wolf spider can actually kill a kitten

I tried to but I couldnt get him out without breaking the window.. He found his way in so I figured he will find his way out. Heading back out that way over the weekend so I will check if he got out. ridiculous how many of those were flying around, kept scaring my wife when she would go through a door and they would come out of the ceiling over her head. Quite until they were just about on you, I thought it was hilarious, but then again I also spent some time on the couch >.>
