| | | | to be constructive... generally, you would in some cases find that the more crap in the photo would be distracting, if the subject is really interesting, or you are trying to create a mood or idea.. however the composition IS boring and it makes the already boring subject even more boring.. its just a plain can. so, A would be better, in my opinion, because at least the things in the background tell more of a story, and the composition works better, it flows at an angle.. however, in agreement with some, i would have to say that both of them could use ... something more interesting..
i hate telling someone that their stuff ''stinks'' because its all in what the artist finds beautiful, however if you are asking for ways to get better, and have others be able to see how you see.. then...
not that i would do much better, but when you are so close to the problem you dont see your own flaws. (always that is)

While the subject of both photos is clear, the second photo (to borrow from willskith) is a "boring subject"; it's a rusty can on a dusty board. For all I can gather from the photo, it could have been taken on your back porch.
Whereas the first photo at least provides more context; it's a rusty can on a dusty board in a bigger mess, which I would hope isn't anywhere near your back porch.
