New to Houston, not UrbEx.
Originally from StL and finding the Houston area lacks the charm & mystery of many older cities.
Can anyone recommend any good sites in the area?

I've looked a little...
Working downtown I pass by potential places everyday, but to be honest the homeless population here combined with my lack of knowledge have both prevented me from exploring alone further.

You should worry less about being assaulted by homeless people in abandonments, and worry more about homeless people breaking into your home in the middle of the night and rubbing their genitals all over your kitchen appliances.

... ... I just won $5 bucks. Thanks 2x!

So sometimes when I go exploring, (Or should say, 'went' exploring, as I haven't been in awhile...) I'd take 2 packs of smokes with me and give them to the bums I met. They can show you some really sweet parts of the place you're exploring for a couple of smokes. One time I met a guy that after showing me around for about 45 minutes, offered me one of the 5 smokes I had just given him... They're not all monsters.

And welcome to UER!

Have you noticed that Cherry RC Cola is suddenly available in DFW (or at least D)? That's so awesome! I'm imprinted on RC -- back in the days of returnable glass bottles with real bottle caps, they had a contest and I would celebrate getting 10c, 25c, or at least one glorious time a whole buck under the cap. And Cherry RC is tons better than the other guys' cherry colas, too.

um, yeah, exploring, something, whatever.

What !!! Homeless population ? 95% of those buildings are homeless free. It's too hot for people to be chillin inside vacant buildings during the summer. If it was winter I'd be a little more cautious.

What about it ? That place is sealed up, active, and has sensors on all the doors.

I'm not sure if the paper mill is still around. If you wouldn't mind PM'n about where it used to be I'd like to check that out. I heard it was around but never could find it so I assumed it was gone.

I just had some trepidation about being in a new city & all. Houston is worlds apart from St. Louis...not better, not worse, just different.

Lol..... RC Cola..... My Great Grandma always has those, I guess I naturally connect RC with being really old! Not that you're really old. Unless you are.
