N00b here, but not to shooting. Trespassing question.

Hey everyone. I just have a quick question for those in my area. I've done my "homework" with regards to Trespassing, but I wonder if anyone has dealt with it in the province of Ontario?

Let's say there's a beautiful old farmhouse with open doors and six to eight outbuildings (one resembles an old school house). Let's also say that there's a beautiful large flowering tree on the property and much much more...

I want to get in there, but it is behind a fence as it is inside of quarry land. I don't want to shoot at the quarry as this part is only gravel dumps. Nothing "fun" there. I want the house. I have shot many many abandoned farmhouses and schoolhouses and I want to add this one to the collection. Thing is, it's in my hometown (which is small) and I don't want the public embarrassment of the arrest or even Trespass fine... Everyone knows everyone here. So, since it is broadly posted all over the place and there is a four foot fence (I know I can wiggle through the gate) and it banks a very busy road, should I

A) go after work hours with available afternoon sun
blow up a gas station in town to divert attention
C) stop whining and go
D) be wary of the "NO TRESPASSING/DANGER" signs?

What say you all? Who has been apprehended ON the site and been dealt with by small town cops. I understand the fine is $55.00? It's a small price to pay, it's the gossip that'll get me.

Living is easy with eyes closed.

I'd suggest a combination of A & C with the addition of:
-Acting like you belong there,
-Not being seen by passers by if you can avoid it
-Not being seeing by a worker at all
-If possible enter the site from the back side (not the road side)
-Don't park near there.

If you're really really concerned, pre-dawn it. Get in while it's still dark out and let the sun brighten things up once you're in there.

Also know a a good cover story. I've heard the photographer who loves old buildings and rambles on and on to the cop about their history usually work our well. But what am I saying. There'll be no cop because you won't get seen, right?

If you get caught tell them you were ghost hunting because you saw the place on the internet.

They'll shake their heads at you and tell you to GTFO.

The quarry is actually behind the property, so I can't access behind. The house sits facing a very busy road. Sunday might work out okay, but I scoped it Sunday and the quarry was open.

Pre dawn entry might be a good idea and then the only worry I have is leaving the place. I also figured I would have someone drop me off so my Jeep isn't nearby whatsoever.

Thanks folks. I get that feeling before I go into any other place, this one just has a fence and prominently posted signs everywhere. ;)

I will grab my balls, put them in my pocket (I never bring my purse out shooting), and go... soon.

As it is such a small town, do you know anyone who works for the quarry? If you're not trying to get near their equipment, you might just be able to get permission.

Also, if you've got a nice big camera with you, and you're not a teenage boy, you can often walk around in plain sight and no one will even care.

Small town cops are either really nice and understanding or extreme dicks, and never in between. I've done a lot of rural exploring, especially in small towns, you really need to watch out for shotgun wielding land owners with large dogs rather than cops.

Yes. No matter how many times you've successfully infiltrated a location, the butterflies during entry/exit are awesome. They can be a great indicator if you are subconsciously saying "OMG THIS IS TEH AWESOME!!!1!!11!" or "Man something doesn't feel right...I should bail."

It is when the butterflies are absent that I really begin to worry.

Ah see? Now, I spoke to someone that is friends with the owner. Because the cops out here CAN be dicks (most likely wouldn't be, but not chancing it), I wanted to just make sure someone was in the know because as I hear it, they'd have me arrested lol. Soooooo now I've gotten the attentions of a few people, including the members here. I HAVE to go. I'm biding my time at the moment. I am waiting to hear back from someone about just getting into the place with proper "permission" I know, I'm a wuss. Shush.

Can I distract you all with other images from some locations I've been to? lol (N00b doesn't know where to post/if she can post yet).

I'd recommend either posting in your regional board, or posting on the Photography board.

Or post some right here, since we're all frothing at the mouth telling you to nut up or shut up!

I think shooting the exterior, unless you had to climb a fence or do some other serious entry work, wouldn't be a problem, even with NT signs. I did it once, parked in front, and the park ranger stopped and he and I talked for about a half hour about old houses and such.

Or you could use your feminine wiles.
