As far as Minneapolis, I kinda see this place as the "holy grail" of urban exploring. It is by far the most dangerous and most difficult place to get into. You are right there along side the skyscrapers and the red lights are just amazing. Plus with all the history behind the place, nothing can beat it.

Is this sort of a unanimous belief or what would you guys consider the best place to explore in the twin cities? Best views, most challenging?

Lets see some pictures.

It's cool, and everyone knows about it. However it isn't the most challenging..

Yes it is. I've always hoped that some day I too could get to the top of the sign and be cool. But alas, it shall never be.

"Most dangerous and difficult"? Hell, I've been there, and if a "fake explorer" like me can manage without difficulty, it's not, you know, all that hard. I mean, shit, it doesn't even require rappelling or other ropework...

Nobody's ever going to agree on what's the most dangerous. Danger of what, anyway? It could be argued, somewhat convincingly, that Bunge is the "most dangerous" site in the Twin Cities, seeing as it's actually killed someone and injured a couple others. (Then again, West Kittsondale kind of killed someone. And the Rondo St drain killed a couple people, in a sense. And the Lilydale caves killed a bunch of people, though there were... mitigating circumstances.)

On the other hand, I think more explorers have been arrested at Landmark than any other location, so in a sense that's "dangerous", too. And, hell, someone shot at me in Hamm's several years ago...

GMF is probably one of the most-traveled sites in the Twin Cities. Back in the 80's and 90's the place was wide open and a bunch of crusties lived in it. MRRC was about the same, but it's since been remodeled.

I didn't really clarify but I kinda meant most challenging as far as buildings go. I agree that some drains and sewers are on a completely different level. But it seems that post renovation (mill city museum) it is the most challenging place I have seen in the twin cities to get into.

Lol at "most challenging". The last time I was there, I was with a group of females, who were all splorin' virgins before said trip. unfortunately, that was the only type of virginity I was able to steal that night.

As far as ingress goes (when it was doable), it wasn't so much hard, it was just shitty, so to speak.

Edit: The presumed pun' in above post was completely coincidental.

Gold "Metal" is way less dangerous now that they've fixed all those missing stairs. Purina is probably worse, someone managed to destroy the entire stairway to the roof by dropping something down it.

ConAgra killed someone too, as did one of the Battle Creek caves (in that one, they determined that blasting your stereo can cause a big chunk of sandstone to come off the ceiling and crush you). Downtown St. Paul also killed that kid trying to climb down the bluff to a hole... when was that, the 50s?

And I'm sure plenty of people have latent cancer from various adventures.

Yeah, we're all pretty much boned there. After seeing how much sand ends up on the inside of "sealed" cameras after a typical night, I hate to think how much is in my lungs...

The new plan is, instead of all being in nursing homes we're going to chip in on a hobby farm. Freak can have as much rusty shit as he wants, Wacko can brew beer, Junkyard can drink the beer, Macsbug can have his sheep, Jim can dig tunnels. You should join us Mario!

Nobody's ever died of a bad back.

Believe me, if anyone was going to, it'd be me.

I think the kid who died near the Wabasha St bridge did so around 1954, but I could be wrong. There was also a kid right around that time who died after digging a cave in sand somewhere near there, and having the cave collapse on him. (It's documented in _Strange Days, Dangerous Nights_, but I can't be arsed to go into the attic and check for the date.)

If we're going to be completists on the death front, we might want to note the two idiots who died after cutting live 13KV Xcel feeder lines down in utility vaults... and the 1980s Lilydale deaths. And should we count the dead college student in the abandoned factory down in Iowa?

Hamm's used to be a hundred different forms of dangerous - contract a fun disease in the caves, encounter toxic waste from a meth lab, inhale nasty chemicals leaking from pipes severed by scrap thieves, fall down some dodgy stairs, fall off some dodgy ladders, fall through holes in the floor, get shanked by homeless people, get shot by the SWAT team, get shot by random crazies using the basement as a shooting gallery, have teenage dumbasses throw crap down on you from catwalks, get attacked by pigeons, et cetera - but it seems a lot less crazy these days.

Also, Slippery Drain is, you know, slippery.
