So yesterday, my friend and I decided that we were going to go check out an old Riverboat nearby. After doing a lot of research, we finally felt prepared and grabbed a taxi out to the riverside. As I'm just being content to admire the smell of the water, my friend points over towards the horizon and says, "Wait... is that it?" And of course it was. Way over on the opposite bank. Lesson Learned: Google Maps is not always right.
So we call up another cab, and cross the river, into an area SO sketchy, it took the cab 45 minutes to find us when we were done exploring. Anyway. My friend took these photos.
History:
The place was built in the late 70's, and left to rot in 2008. At the time it was built, it was the largest steam/paddle boat; it is now the second largest. There were fresh footprints, paint cans, construction tools and such, so we think there are crews working on the place. The power was on, too, so we're actually pretty sure.
There are more photos, but I've got to head to class.

| | | | That looks like an amazing place! I can't believe how relatively intact everything looks! It seems like fancy chandeliers like that get smashed up for fun pretty quick after a place is abandoned.

Looks like an old Surviveair, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that pretty intact. Probably has air still in it. And I would love to have that old fireaxe. A little buffing and paint and it would look brand new.

We went below, the photos aren't so great though. Just a lot of empty rooms. We found a kitchen and stuff, I'll have to upload more photos. The "most interesting" floor would have been the lowest deck (the crew area). Sadly, it was pretty gutted, and we couldn't stay too long because of REALLY poor air quality.
We got into the Captain area though, where he drives the boat. It was really cool.
I'll get on some other photos.
