I recently started with photography. I'm still new at this. Any criticism or tips would be great! Used a Nikon D3000, no Photoshop or editing.

Nice shallow depth of field in all of these shots. I like the second shot but the box on the right side I find distracting because it's cut off. I'd either include it fully in the shot or just leave it out.

awesome. i might have included a few extra inches in different directions in your field, but i really really like what you did and the choices you made in these photos. i'd love to see you do more like this.

this is a great start, and i think with more shooting and just adjusting your compositions, you could get some great results. i quite like the bullets shot, and just the box being the detractor. you have nice crispness and colour in the shots, and kudos on that without photoshopping.

keep it up!

Odd combination of shells: 18 gauge and .22's? Guns for the man and the little lady?

Those are primers, probably from those empties. A reloader.

I think it is distracting, but almost in a good way. Without it, the picture would be boring. I'd actually include an inch or two more.

Personally I (respectfully) disagree, I like the composition of that photo, and don't find the box distracting at all, It just adds to the ambience of the photo.

depth of field works well with the first two, not feeling the third.

I love how you played with the depth of field in these. Awesome job, I don't know how I would critique these except to say keep on taking pics and experimenting with all the settings on the camera, cause there are so many things you can do and discover. Nice work!! I can't wait to see more.

1) pretty much spot on, maybe if you included all off the door lock?

2) as others, sweet, but add more cartridge box

3) dof way too shallow, either give it more F's to get maybe 2-3 nails in focus, or rotate camera right to get the beam running diagonally into the shot?

Go.. IN.. turbines...
