I understand that place is pretty hard to shoot these days without it looking the Maytag Repairman's workshop.

yeah, true. It does look like an appliance graveyard now. Actually, it adds to the atmosphere though. Also, I know the guy leasing the property...so no cops to interrupt my photo time.

the first shot was a rusting steel storage building which had been mangled badly. It has long since been removed.

there was nothing in the building to burn. it was all steel beams, steel tube and sheet steel. rust, and a lack of maintenance is what killed the building. when the guy who is leasing the property first started using the property he had it bulldozed.

These shots were taken in 2005, that last time I was out there. Some by me, some by Dokk.

As a kid, I loved the idea of an incinerator. Every public building seems to have had one at some point, but by the '70s it seems that someone figured out that you can't just burn something and make it disappear. Nonetheless, I remember haunting the old incinerator at the Junior High, wishing I could get away with bringing matches and a bunch of papers to see if I could get some smoke going.

Ah, those blissful days of youthful pyromania. Now, I'm all like, "be careful with the toaster oven, son, you don't want to burn down the house!"

J'ai toujours fait une prière à Dieu, qui est fort courte.
La voici: "Mon Dieu, rendez nos ennemis bien ridicules!"
Dieu m'a exaucé.
