Seagoville Hawk Killers

Me and a couple of friends went to the Seagoville site on the DB lookin' to do a little beginner crane climbing, But, alas! There is no crane, or almost anything anymore for that matter, oh well, we still checked it out, and came across something a little disturbing...

That is a dead hawk I think. I don't think it's dead, I know it is, but I think it's a hawk. Any corrections? Anyway, I got to thinking, how in the hell does happen?

I'm not a hunter type, so I have no idea if a hawk has any natural predators in Texas, but I have come to the conclusion that either:
1-This bird was killed, by humans.
or
2-A storm blew this poor bastard into his resting place.

Any ideas anyone?? I know you guys always have an answer to these types of questions, so shoot..

Here is some other pics of our day, full of no crane climbing disappointment.

I think you're right. It looks like a Red Tail.
Too bad. They're really cool.

Thats what happens when some asshole adds a location to the DB it gets vandalized and then all the raptors and accipiters get massacred. Happens every time.

I don't know exactly where the hawk is in relation to you pictures, but I noticed in the first picture there is a tall antenna. I know that raptors sometimes hit the guy wires that hold it up and your hawk could have hit one of those. One of the place I work at has a tall radio tower and high tension power lines close by and we have found some birds of prey around that could only have hit the wires. (it's inside the city limits and gunfire is prohibited, but yes, it does happen LOL). So hunters may be perfectly innocent of the hawks tragic demise.

That's a likely scenario, I was going to suggest a Great Horned owl. They will take hawks, though the tree it's in looks a bit small for them to stash a cache.

It was right next to the pond, and there was nothing really other than other trees that could have obstructed the path, again, this is hawk, not exactly a clumsy bird, but I don't claim to know anything about birds. I thought maybe an owl too, but there was no blood, and if a predatory animal killed it, wouldn't have eaten it?

To 2Xplore, I knew you were gonna say something to that effect! LOL and to Barry, I went to your so called Buckshot Factory the same night, and scared the shit out a couple of bums, not quite as bad as they scared me but, it was exciting. The roof is starting to cave in there, we went up, but didn't go very far, fuck that! Plus, that place is totally trashed out, bad..

Either way, thanks to both of you guys for the locations, and Barry, thanks for making like a treasure hunt to figure out where your buildings are, do you leave clues on purpose? Like skylines and such? I enjoy looking for them on google earth...

Heh!
Not too much. Only the really dedicated find any of the clues and the rest who run across 'em just wonder about 'em.

Well keep it up, it's entertaining to try to figure it out, I don't think it's fair to just look at the DB and go ok, I am going to go right there. If you can't figure out where it is, you prolly should not be trying to infiltrate it... MHO

The Red Tailed hawk either flew into the tree during limited visibility or had a heart attack in mid flight and crashed where it now rests. If a predator killed the hawk, it would have been eaten.
