I picked out a few of my favorites for you all to tear apart.

All were taken with an old Sony DSC-V1.

1)

2)

3) I didn't have a tripod for this one.

Thanks!

1. i think this could have worked better if the exposure was longer.

2.kind of an awkward angle, i dont really know what im looking at

3.i think this one could have worked a little better if it was a little more level, and possibly cropped in a little tighter

I pretty well agree: though I do like the colors on 2...

1 however.... I fucking want that on my wall- I LOVE that shot man, great work!

If photography is a function of the photographer then I will contentedly buy all my gear on craigslist. (/from livestrong2009)

Assuming you seek honesty... 1 needs to be cropped much more closely to lose the extra black space (and even then is probably too noisy to really be good), and 3 is just boring.

BUT 2 is really cool. Flawed, but promising. The bottom third of your shot offers nothing; it seems like the ideal perspective is up higher, with the point where that axle meets the wheel being the ideal center. I would have panned upward to get that shot, although I don't know what contortions you're putting yourself through to get this shot in the first place. It might work better in portrait orientation, too.

Could you please describe what you mean by #1 being noisy? Thanks.

As for #3, I took that shot by placing the lens through a hole, so there weren't a lot of options. However, next time I'm on the location, I'll try taking the picture as a portrait and see if I can pan up a little.

I appreciate the critics!

To correct shoot at a lower ISO and increase your exposure time accordingly (that is if your camera has manual options.)

I like the idea you were going for for number 1, but you used the rule of 3rds a little awkwardly.

Pictures where the subject is curving to the right or left don't need to have a downward/angled frame.

Look at the picture... imagine panning the camera right a bit, and then angling it upward some. That would be more pleasing to the eye.

1) I like the concept, but it needs more. Perhaps up the exposure or add some more light. If nothing, crop it a little to eliminate all that blackness.

2) The depth-of-field on the right and left sides is a bit distracting.

3) Seems grainy and lifeless, use a tripod, lower shutter speed, and lower ISO next time as well as touch up the contrast a little bit in post.

Overall, it's a pretty decent set.

Agreed.
1) cropping the extra blackness on the top and right would put your subject in a better spot

2) crop it on left and right and I think it will be better

3) kinda grainy, and I didn't care for the composition much. I'm guessing you wanted the subject to be the ladder, but it was too dark.

honestly, you take some pretty good pictures. keep it up, and continue to take stronger and stronger photos. I look forward to more of what you have to offer
