| | Incinerator and appliance graveyard < on 1/26/2010 9:04 PM >
| | | Since my friend Seripham already posted, figure I should get off my ass and post something. Been lurking here off and on for a while now. This is an old city trash incinerator...however someone has been stashing dead appliances here. We came out of the overgrown part of the property and ran into some guys stripping a box truck in the parking lot of the place, so we gave them 5 bucks or so for permission to explore "their" building and they took off in an old police car to get lunch. One of them played a mean harmonica... Anyway all the doors to the incinerators have been welded shut, although Seripham did manage to find a way into
one at a later date. [last edit 1/26/2010 9:07 PM by bdgr - edited 1 times]

| | | Not sure why they are there, but they are stacked up all around the place outside too. I think it adds a surreal touch to the whole thing.

| | | Nice photos of an interesting location. Late afternoon is the best time for these things. However, being me, i must ask: did you climb the stacks?

nope. Not much of a climber myself. Yeah, it kind of sucked having to leave just as the light got really good. It was in a part of town that you really dont want to be walking through after dark with thousands of dollars worth of camera gear...and without going into how we got in, the car was about a mile away.

Yeah, it's like the secret elephant graveyard...only with avocado and harvest gold kitchen appliances instead of ivory.

| | | Its an awesome location....had been here once before this trip and the stacks were accessable but it seems that who ever is in charge of it now has welded the doors all shut so getting in the stacks has become a pretty big challenge. Got a few pics from here myself I need to post at some point.
