| | | So sad. I stayed there about 6 months before Ike hit. I swear it hadn't changed since I stayed there in 1989.

Where have you been!? I miss you guys.
I miss the flagship too! It was my dream to stay in it someday when I was a kid and lived on and near the island... I never got to go inside.

| | | Came across the Flagship today.. Completely forgot about it, was rather exciting to see something I had seen on here first. Rather tempted to take a look inside but with the holiday weekend going on theres a bit much traffic out and about. Really curious if the arcade still exists for one thing. I saw there is a trailer out by the street, they have active security? Only thing I saw moving was the coast guard boats going up and down the beach for w/e reason.

| | | Nice set. The Flagship has been on my hit list for a while, just haven't made it down there yet.

| | | Same here. I really have wanted to go there and to that Jungle Slide place or whatever it was (on Seawall Blvd.) I want to hook up with some people down here and do an exploration soon. VERY soon I am going to explore a pair of abandoned mansions just miles from my house. I don't know how this works, but If anyone wants to meet up, lemme know.

| | | Looked like they are planning some construction down around the slide area.. was some heavy machinery down there and the area around it is somewhat leveled. All in all, pretty easy entry.

| | | I read on Galvestons facebook that they are going to tear her down and re-build her. That would explain all the construction equipment. They have big plans for that pier... Similar to Kemah Boardwalk.

| | | "Landry’s plans to rename the property the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier Hotel and Resort in a project estimated to pump about $15 million into the property" Wow what a name! Think they could have made it any longer? Shoulda gone all the way with it: Galveston Island Important Historic Pleasure Pier Hotel/Resort/Ballroom/Restaurant/Ocean View/establishmentarianistic Rebirth of nude Mermaids sculptures on Land Facing Walls. (Seriously have you seen the walls?)

| | | The mermaids on the outside of the building were the best part... I hope they rebuild it with the mermaids.

| | | Yeah, my favorite part about them too was that they spent so much time sculpting the breasts of the mermaids, and then the face of the mermaid looks like Mr. Bill claymation! The hands are grossly unproportionate, and the lips look like they were glued on. Gotta love the breast detail though, complete with nipple outlines!

I can kind of see that....
(They're still pretty mermaids, though.)

| | | My wife and I were planning a return during Tropical Storm Alex. I wanted to stay the night there but she said "HELL NO" Thought it would be interesting to stay there while a storm rolled through. Oh well, maybe next time.
