Looking for Exploring Partners in the Bryan/College Station (Texas) Area

So far, attempts to partner up with the one or two people on here that show to be located in the Bryan or College Station area haven't worked out. I guess people are in college and are too busy with school or whatever.

So anyway, I'm stopping short of organizing something official and instead just putting out an open invitation to anyone who wants to go exploring in the Bryan/College Station area. I've heard a few people say that there aren't places to go here but alas, there are!

Anyway, if you're interested, hit me up, either on here, through PM, or on AIM.

I'll PM you if needed but I just wanted to ask... You have anything interesting to explore around there? I live in Austin but have no problem doing some driving to see some cool abandonments. Trips to the panhandle, New Orleans, and numerous trips to Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Galveston for the sole purpose of Urban Exploration should attest to that.

TAMU has a great underground and some cool buildings. PM me if you want to know anything. I may or may not have a map of the tunnels from when I may or may not have been a maintenance worker there. I had a map in google earth at some point as well. I've moved several times since then but I'll try to help you any I can. There's also an old school in Bryan.

Kind of depends on why you like exploring. It seems to me that a lot of people are into UE for the thrill of the infiltration. For the places I'll be going, that thrill won't be the same because it'll be legal to be there (open/unfenced sites, permission from owners, etc.).

I was originally just thinking about people in the B/CS area because they'd be more likely to be available on short notice if I found some little place to check out. As an example, I found a little church building here a few days ago. It's not overly interesting, but I think it's cool. It was built as a Sunday school/chapel addition to a 100 year old church back in 1984 and has remained behind after they carted off the historic portion of the church a couple years ago. It'll soon be torn down to make way for commercial development. Meanwhile, it sits empty, wide open and with no fence around it. I'm still waiting for my tripod to get here and once it arrives, I'm planning on going into the little Sunday school building. Like I said, it was only built in 1984 and isn't a huge place, so it's not THAT big of a deal. If I can't find anyone else who wants to tag along then that's fine, I'll still go and check it out. But it'd be cool to have a fellow explorer or two. It just seems like for a place like this, it'd be nice to have one or two people locally to call up rather than bother people who are out of town.

Then again...meeting people on UER is always a cool thing and if people are willing to travel, especially for exploring (and especially for LEGAL exploring?!), then more power to them! Thoughts?

I'd be game for making a day trip of it as well. Austin to College Station is a bit far to drive on the spur of the moment, but I'm sure we could plan something ahead of time I have absolutely no problem with that whole "getting permission" thing. Sometimes you actually learn a whole lot more about the place than you would if you were to go in surreptitiously.

I have no problem with getting permission such as with Bruce's place. Basically for me, it's whatever is easiest to get access.

I can understand wanting someone local to explore with. Sometimes I plan far in advance and others, I'll see a place to explore and while I'm there I'll give a buddy a call and wait outside until they get there before going inside.

I'd be less likely to make a long drive for something little of course but if there are a group of little places, it can certainly be worth it. That sunday school could be interesting especially if they left behind some interesting artifacts.

It looks like College Station is only a little further away from Austin as San Antonio is so it would probably require a weekend but still not a problem.

I'm working on a project at TAMU and couldn't help but laugh when the head of engineering bragged at a meeting a week or so back that their underground tunnels were policed and no one EVER got into them!

The tunnels open up right in to the basements of most of the buildings. Only the newer buildings are locked/alarmed from the tunnels. There is very little graffiti and such but definately some down there, mainly from the Corps guys. Most of the tunnels are pretty clean but some are flooded with fiber optics and such under water. There the metal gates throughout the system, but none of them are locked. When I was working there we would walk freely through the tunnels, no warnings of alarms or sensors, and no signs of cameras. The Chemistry building has one of the coolest Mechanical rooms I've ever seen, it runs from top to bottom one whole side of the building with catwalks and sweet acid drains down the walls. One of the drain covers got left off and filled with birds.

Link, that sounds very interesting, I've never been into that room, but might have checked out the steam tunnels out a time or two.

Can you pass on that map you have?
