Fairborn, OH Cement Plant

This is my second write up so be gentle. At this point I have explored 6 buildings and 3 drains, this was my fourth building or so.

The approach looked difficult, turned out to be a cinch. Another case of someone not locking a lock. On the way in we, Shutchatrap and I, found a spray painted sign that said we were under video surveillance. Of course, we ignored it.

As soon as we got in we were greeted by the following sights:

Obviously this place was filled and covered with dust, some windows caked on both sides with inches of dust. The room pictured above was the same on both sides so we walked through, choosing not to climb up the tower you can see on the left of the first picture. We wandered up into the main room and heard flowing electricity. We took this chance to put on respirators to do two things, cover our faces and protect the precious lungs.

The upper levels were fairly boring, appeared to be mostly storage. This one room had a chair though!

The top floor was quite interesting, I didn't get a very detailed pictures but I got a picture through a pipe that I thought was interesting and it shows some detail.

The other neat thing was there was large cracks in some sections of the top floor that looked down to the entire ground. I just laid my camera on one of these to get this:

All in all, a fairly straightforward and easy explore. Looking forward to some more difficult and more interesting ones in the future.

I could never tell if this was active or not. When I last went to the site three years ago, it was lit up and the property was abuzz with activity. Many of the buildings had electricity as far as I could tell from the road.

I ended up driving on the concrete/gravel road that snakes through their property for miles to the quarry and other processing sites, and found that much of that is active.

Is this active or just mothballed?

There's two cement plants in Fairborn within a mile of each other. It sounds like you saw the other one I think...or maybe even a third since there is supposed to be 4.

This one is very abandoned although someone is taking care of the site and there is electricity in the main building. Some outside lights are always on.

I always wondered if this was worth a look when I lived in Dayton, looks like it is decent.

I love how you tell a story man. Maybe your pictures won't win any awards, but they give a sense of what it is like to be there. Coupled with your stories, and I can almost smell the concrete dust *cough*.

I personally can't wait to see/read more!

Take one exposed for inside to lighten the darks and one exposed for outside to eliminate the alien abduction light effect and the blow out then combine then in Photoshop, but that'dve been a tough thing to do on the pns you were using that day. Bet you could pull it off with your new set up though.
