Not Quite UE Related: Need Advice on Best Respirators/Filters for Dead Bodies

A lot of y'all here are extremely knowledgeable about all the different respirators and filters, so I need your expertise. Short of using an SCBA setup, what would be the best option for entering a house/apartment/building where a dead body had been cooking for a few days? I'm obviously not as much worried about protecting myself as I am about just avoiding the smell that we all hate so much. Thanks in advance.

ETA: this relates to my job. LOL

A filter against organic vapours would work, these are in most cases combined with a P3 filter against particles. You could get a more extensive one like against Organic/Inorganic vapours but I guess it's only to get rid of the smell.

What goose said: organic. You probably don't need to pay for a full-on organic filter, but get some normal particulate respirator (anywhere from n95 to p100 would be fine and pretty cheap) that has a "Nuisance organic filter." Those won't do much against bioweapons, but they're meant to at least minimize smells.

Alternately, you could could clean up your dead hookers immediately after you kill them- saves a lot of effort and cleanup.

Be careful, not safe.

Well now....just go to a Home Depot or Lowes and they can help you out.

I read the title and was like wtf? Or you can do what Jeff Dahmer did and refrigerate them right away or just ignore it and have your neighbors call the cops on you lol

Get use to the smell. My dad is amazing when it comes to spotting out dead shit. Plus his horror stories of finding week old bodies and stuff makes me gag.

Vicks Vapo-Rub
best friend of cops everywhere?

I’m quite positive that you’ve slept with someone uglier than me, and I’m sure I’ve slept with someone hotter than you. So let’s just call it a draw.

Is well known to cause post trauma. The smell of vicks may cause some one to become really sick because it reminds them of the disturbing job they once had

your average p-100 & organic vapors combo filter masks will suffice, just make sure you've got a tight seal -- use vaseline around the rubber muzzle if you need to.

another option is to use science and transform into a komodo dragon, they love dead meat and the smell will be wonderful to you. if you can't afford the science, then try cannibalism as a last resort.

For shats and giggles, I've used a respirator at work when some customer felt the need to shit allover the wall and they sent me into clean it up ... it didn't work very well. The smell still came through (not as bad though)

I switched from the respirator to a grill towel with hand sanitizer on it no smell at all.

Strong cologne or aftershave on a bandanna will work far better.

Without trying to sound too creepy, this thread is pretty interesting.

My friends dad used to be a cop and told me about a time when they investigated an old folks home where the body of an old man was left to cook in scorching august heat. He said NOTHING helped to avoid the smell of the partially liquified body. Nothing.

Bad idea if you want your resperator to last. The petroleum jelly will break down the rubber seal. Make sure it fits proper. do a negitive air test. Remove filters & hold hand over intakes. Mask should suck in. Good seal is key. I wear one all day @ work. Clyde

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?
