Longest Night of the Year

Not too far from my home, there's a large abandoned neighbourhood. Most of the buildings have been demolished, but there are still a few left. I went on an overcast night to take pictures.

perhaps you will think me dumb to ask this, but are those (your friends?) people actually in the buildings with flashlights? or are they edited in?
either way, pretty neat.

Yeah, you can't really see me clearly in most of these.

Here's another one I did recently where you can more clearly see.

It's pretty simple. All it takes is a tripod and a remote shutter release. Then I go and pose in various places in the photograph.

In Photoshop, I place all the photos on different layers in one file, and then I selectively mask the images to isolate the unique elements of each. If you look closely you can see some vertical lines on the right wall in the last shot where I should've blended the exposures differently.

Although hypothetically, I could've done the nighttime shots in one exposure by turning off my flashlight, moving to a new location, and turning the flashlight on again. My camera only handles 30-second exposures so I spent 30 seconds in each room.

Yeah, having a remote is fun, probably only for digital cameras. A cable release for an analogue camera has its advantages though.

Photo 5- Looks like a mannequin with a noose around its neck, upstairs through the window. Great shots. I like the dusk setting, very still.
