| | | I used to ride everywhere to find tunnels and other stuff to explore. It was fun. Here is a very short clip of Deathray Eyes The Drain Dog. I went for a walk over Easter. I will post it here very soon. Cheers, DOug

| | | An Easter walk I spent Easter with non-exploring friends. I didn’t really have much of clue about the town near where we were camping so I found a spare hour and went for a walk. I soon realised that the town was an old mining town
There is a creek diversion tunnel.
I couldn't figure out where the other end was, but I reached in and took this photo (the sound of falling water in the tunnel was deafening)
And one for scale (it went deeper once I took a step inside) - I didn't have time to do it.
Then as I just about reached the town I came across a drain. The Outlet
The inlet is grilled off.
There is an unusual feature just outside the inlet.
It's a huge wheel (keep in mind that I am a touch under 2 meters tall)
This really whetted my appetite so the next day I borrowed a topographic map from a friend and I found another hour for another walk. To save some time I drove to the other side of town where the map showed 8 mine sights. My walk didn’t go very well as I ended up surrounded by huge gum-trees and getting a bit freaked out by the, “thump, thump, thump” sounds I could hear. Within a few minutes I could hear thumping coming from 3 different directions. I stood with my back against a huge gum-tree and pulled out my camera a fraction too late as the thumping got closer and louder. Suddenly 3 giant kangaroos went bounding bye. I finally got to the edge of the bush where farm-land started and realised that I had missed the mines altogether, however I noticed that down the hill there was some kind of mine entrance.
This town snows over in the winter so I won’t be back for awhile. Seeming as though I really didn't get to check anything that I found out, I might get a few people to head back to do some exploring there. I’ve also heard about a couple of other things out that way that I wouldn’t have heard about if I didn’t start the ball rolling by going for a walk Cheers, Doug

| | | THE WALK CONTINUES... I think there has been a walk on each of the pages in this thread, but I think it was on the first page where I was trying to find a dam that relates to this post. Well today I went for another walk! As per usual I will bore you with the whole trip I started off at the usual spot and thought (again)... geez they're big!
Got held up here for a few minutes... eventually took a risk and decided to 'GO'
The first thing that I noticed was that there was plenty of things to eat if the need arises...
I knew security may be a problem. The first level of security (once I hopped over a 2ft wire farm fence) were the Power Cows!
But I was expecting them so I had worn green and black... the two colours that Power Cows can't see. I also new that security cows were known for leaving land-mines for the unskilled explorer...
I had to carefully watch each step! The next level of security was the Wild Ram Posse, *but once they saw that I wasn't from New Zealand they realised that they had no gripe with me...
* Obscure in-joke about how Aussie's say that New Zealanders root sheep (and of course they say we root sheep). I then had to get by a barbed wire cyclone fence so I needed to bribe the next line of security...
The Wild Australian Bush Brumby Security Company. The took their bribe and were cool with me.
I then spent about ten minutes watching a wedge tail eagle looking for prey.
All joking aside, it was a pretty cool situation... me sitting on the banks of a private river chilling with these white horses and watching this amazing bird! I heard what I thought was a truck, however it turned out to be a helicopter (they don't come around here unless there is a bush-fire and it did a lap of the area I was in (scared the eagle away ), hovered for a minute and took off.
I then came across a weird wooden wall that didn't seem to have a practical use other than blocking the view of what was on the other side.
I then saw it... THE DAM!
It wasn't what I was expecting, but at least it as in my sight!
And to top it off, I was on the wrong side to get on to (or into?) the structure)
I did see something that is likely to see me return with a rubber boat...
The tunnel doesn't look very big, but it's about 15ft high...
You can see how close it is to the dam (tunnel to the right)
I then saw another group of kangaroos, walked all the way back to my car, attempted to clean off the remains of the four landmines I skidded through, and went home! I enjoyed this walk immensely! Cheers, Doug.

| | | If you can be bothered to read the original post in this thread you will notice that I originally started off looking for a dam. I got slightly side-tracked but I wasn't really in a rush (as you may have guessed by the other 'walks' in this thread). Well this walk has finally been completed. Last weekend iD & Dirge came down my way and
I WE WENT FOR A WALK! We started off at the usual spot and thought (again)... geez they're big!
Got held up here for a few minutes... we eventually took a risk and decided to 'GO'
The signs told us that we were on the right track...
Have a look at Dirge's welfare style trousers held up with an ocky strap
Then suddenly out of the blue iD & Dirge spotted it - "There it is!"
We thought about climbing over...
...but saw this bullet-ridden sign and decided against it...
...THIS TIME ;)
