New to UER / Interesting Destinations in the Bay Area (CA)

Hey UER, this is my first post! Thanks for having me, and thanks for existing!

I have always been into exploring places - but had no idea it had a whole organized society - not to mention an official term!
I started at a young age being fascinated with everything from haunted houses to the unfinished buildings being worked on by my dad's company.
My dad owns a company that does everything from restoring the derelict ruins of houses to building new ones.
I think I got my hobby from him because when I was little he used to take me on hikes to the oldest of Marin County's buildings/houses/infrastructures. Also to his construction sites where I could climb around buildings in all stages of (dis)repair.
I didnt really integrate the physical "exploration" part until I was a teenager. I think it started out as rebellion; running around at night, infiltrating places - trying to get away from the mundane world of the "civil". At one point the sheer awesomeness of the things I was seeing reminded me of my deeper inner drive to explore the unseen world behind the fences and locked doors of my town.

Anyways, I became a little more professional about it and started to plan things better. I went from draining in the local storm drain to bringing my camera on trips to other counties with maps and some basic guidance from the internet or other U.E.s.

Heres a list of a few mentionable places Ive been for those looking for places to go in and around Marin:

San Francisco:
Sutro Baths: Really just basic remains of the foundation on a beach.

Marin Headlands
Fort Baker, Fort Cronkhite, Nike Missle Base, etc...
Theres a page in the UE DB about them. Fun but limited access.
There are smaller forgotten bunkers on the hillsides near Kirby Cove.

Hamilton Air force Base:
Isnt a base anymore. the land is being developed into neighborhoods but some parts of the base still remain. There are still old houses, hangers and air fields but my favorite is a small building. It is vandalized but most of the other intruders seem to respect the place. the bottom floor looks like it was submerged with the Titanic for about 50 years.

Skagg's Island:
Half way down highway 37, in the middle of the marsh is the famous military base/town. Its basically a self contained town! It has anything a regular town would have plus countless military buildings full of strange relics.
You know the rest.
My friend held a rave here and somehow didnt get caught?!
We both went back one night (my first time there) and basically explored every room in that damn town.
Security is very high and serious business. We got busted on the way out. They where just looking for vandals. I told the guy I was a photographer and it was for school. He asked to see my camera and I showed him my harmless pictures...

Mare Island:
An old navy base at the end of highway 37 in Vallejo. It is pretty cool, and very big as well. I just walked right in in broad daylight. The coolest thing was a humongous school like building right next to the on ramp for the freeway. It was like a high school stacked on a high school. I believe it was for ex-military personal wanting to be integrated into civilian life.

Napa:
Does anybody know of this building? I dont wanna give to much away about its location. I dont want to ruin it for U.E.s.

I used to have hundreds of UE pictures - all high res. I also used to have a camera. Bad luck took care of all that. All i have left are a couple scaled down versions I was lucky enough to post online prior to my computer crashing.

After several crashes, I've learned to backup all my images onto photobucket in a subfolder.

Sorry I can't help you on the location, but you have interesting pictures and locations. Welcome to UER!

Napa State Hospital:
Theres a building behind the notorious Mental Hospital - out in the woods near a small lake. Its surrounded by a field of unmarked graves and there are metal bead frames stacked all around the exterior. I am sure it was some kind of quarantine. Maybe tuberculosis but I'm pretty sure it was a mental hospital.
I have pics x-D

people know the building at nsh. its not a big secret...but if it were, you pretty much just gave it away despite saying you didn't want to give too much away about its location. i mean why don't you just draw a map already.

Us Bay Area folks hang out here. Nothing new to us but you could still be a bit more discrete. Save the details for PM's. Welcome & we are always look'n for new insight to places. Or just steel your soul Clyde

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

I can take it down. I suppose its not too late. I doubt there s a secret task force monitoring these sites - looking for clues and sending warnings to security companies...
But better safe than sorry.

There was a hole here.
It's gone now.
