| | | The crazy thing about the Baker is that it's RIGHT on the road that everybody drives down when passing through Mineral Wells. The one time I drove through that place (will probably be the last too), I just happened to pass by it and found myself going, "WTF???"

That's how I found it.. then stopped and actually ended up going in... Then did the research when I got home and found out what it was... and that led me to this site.

| | | Wow that is a rather fortunate turn of events! The Baker is probably my favorite location so far, but I haven't been exploring to long, so I guess that may not mean much.

| | | I dont know if this helps but the last time we where there we talked to the cops and they said that they patrol it every 20 minutes. Mainly because the police station is across the street {you can see it from the hotels entrance}. [last edit 1/4/2010 12:35 PM by Raticus - edited 1 times]

I guess that does help, I mean I always sit and watch for a bit, cops tend to move in pre determined routes, and wait for them, as soon as they pass, BOOM, I go for it. If it wasn't for my GF's camera flash, I'm quite sure I would have been fine, but I'm not bringing her next time, she won't go in anyway, "It's too scaaaary!" Too bad too, I had to drive 2 hrs to get there last night! Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not one to say I don't believe in ghosts, hell, half the reason I went to the Baker was cuz of the stories I'd heard. I don't like the word haunted or ghosts, but I have no doubt that the Baker is plum full of entities on a different plane, as I'm sure many of these types of places are. I don't doubt that there are entities all around us, after all, just because you can not see it, does not mean it is non existent, much like a newborn baby can't really use it's limbs with any coordination, until it understands what they are, then it makes perfect sense, our minds have a way of disregarding things we don't understand, most likely for reasons of sanity. However..... I am getting waaaay off subject here, maybe there's a place for this discussion somewhere, but I'm sure it isn't here... The Baker looks awesome, and I want to get inside bad. Long Story Short.

I think there needs to be a place for that discussion... I think about it pretty much the same way. I figured I was maybe one of about 20 people who thought that way.

No worries, I think we've all done it at some point, even if by accident. One time I posted a picture of a really cool abandonment that I thought I had just found and I was all careful not to mention in the (public) post where it was or the name of it... I just wanted to show the 'coolness' of it. Well, I had named the picture insert_name_of_abandonment_here1.jpg. Yeah, I actually named it the name of the building it was, so anyone could just look at the name of my photo and know where the place was... and everyone here had already heard of it and it had been in the DB for about 20 years.
*sigh* That was a long time ago, but I got a lot of grief over it. Well, sorta... Or maybe I did get a lot, I just didn't notice. [last edit 1/4/2010 4:50 PM by Happiedaze - edited 1 times]

I have been all over that place,From the basement to the bell tower, many floors all by myself. I was hoping to see a ghost or something but never saw or felt anything. Went to the room that Mrs. Baker supposedly committed suicide in.. nothing. Was in the room with all the graffiti... nothing. In Mr. Baker's suite... nothing. The only place that was even remotely creepy was the medical/spa floor and suites. Of course, it was daytime. Not real safe to explore at night, IMHO. I guess the ghosts know I don't believe in them and they leave me alone.. LOL

I don't see anything in the TOS about not naming places, just not posting photos of the entrances to places.
When posting information about an exploration site, DO NOT POST HOW TO GET IN, or HOW YOU GOT IN. Also, do not post any photographs of the entrances you used (unless it's totally obvious like an open barn door). |

| | | When are you thinking about going this weekend? I have been considering heading back out there soon if possible. The only time I went was a quick trip that didn't last long enough. I don't think I even explored the medicinal/spa floor. I need to get back out there.
