Your light painting is a bit too uneven in the first, and it's too in-between - it needs to be either more lit up or less. If you want less obvious lines of where you pointed your light, back up so the beam spreads over a wider area; it would also help if you lit it from the side, rather than from behind (or right beside) the camera. Other than that, it's a decent composition, if not the most exciting subject in the world (I hate golf).

#2 is technically fine, just seems kind of boring to me. #3 is also fairly boring, plus the grass under the light in the background is blown out, and the colour balance is a bit too yellow overall.

#4 I like the composition, it doesn't seem so static; the curve in the treeline is nice, and the fact that you fit the whole reflection of the centre tree makes me happy. Technically, it's pretty dead on, the only thing I would have done at the time would have been to remove the stake in the front. Your colour could be a touch less red too, but that's just personal taste on my part, it's fine the way it is.

yep.

Thank you for your input.

I was a bit disappointed with the lightpainting results from that night (I had 10 shots, but most were way too blah to even think of posting) I think I needed a bit stronger light or to be closer to the trees to get the effect I really wanted b/c the colors turned out very unrealistic and that was the most bothersome of all.

I must say, after seeing how awsome of a job they did of rakeing that sad. I would have had to put a "(insert name of choice) was here", just along the side.

So i say, Merah!

Trust me...the temptation was terribly hard to resist.

I actually found all of these wonderful the first time I viewed them. It was only after reading the comments about light painting that I noticed you using that technique.

Still, despite this new found knowledge, I really enjoy 2,3, & 4. They "feel" good. Visually pleasing, I suppose.

With that said, you did a good job. I'd rather praise these than critique them since it took someone elses eye to catch what mine missed.

944kid: Thank you very much...those 3 you like are my favorites of the group (with 4 being the one I'm most proud of).

Number 1 to me, is the strongest. It is almost perfect.. but I feel that you could have used more light on the back section of the sand pit and not the front, as it creates an illusion of a flash. These are better than any of my attempts though. Good work!

just curious why you're shooting at F7.1 for these landscapes?

It's just what I had the camera set on currently b/c I was told it would be a good setting for the "clearest" shots...I hadn't adjusted it lately.

I'm going to guess she wanted less foreground focus and more focus on the background, which is how things were set up in this set: things farther away.

Then again, I have a primitive understanding of f-stops and I should probably have the OP answer that.

EDIT- lol slow.

You would think they did it that way on purpose (and maybe they did) but I'm hoping the sheer distance from Disney would keep that shit toned down a little bit hahaha

But it seems that if you're in the state of Florida at all you'll be inundated with all things Mickey all the time
