I built my own 'clamp pod' out of a plastic wood clamp and a manfrotto ball head.

I'm sure there's a similar version online....

^ similar concept, different pieces.

If you can 'improvise' you way into a building, you should be able to imrprovise a camera mount.

ps. nice flick of the homemade stedicam

I strongly advise you against attaching a camera to a riflestock as a piece of draining kit.

After doing some police work. If i see anyone, running around with what could be a weapon. especially something like that. Yeah, your chances of getting shot, tazed, OC'd or something worse go way up. Also remember. Police dogs dont stop biteing until the handler says so. If your still a threat, your gonna be a chew toy longer.

So i say, Merah!

Take it from the borderline illiterate volounteer cop, cameras that look like guns are a big no no when exploring abandondeded storm drain sewers.

Mods..this is in Photography and it is photography AND UE related...please delete if you however feel it necessary.

Heres your solution..I think this will be perfect in drains and pretty much any low light and/or telephoto situation.

OK so heres the beginning of my project:

Hahaha, now why would you take apart a perfectly good Mosin Nagant? Those things are indestructible!

A rifle stock is more compact than your tripod? Or you want people to think you're carrying a gun?

I don't get it.

Also, regardless of who makes it, a Mosin Nagant is still a Mosin cheap or not.

It was originally made by the Russian military, right? How could you possibly get any cheaper than Russian surplus?

I use one of these when shooting with my Lumix. The 1.5" of verticality that it gives really helps out when taking photos in asylums, and now that I've run out of Polaroid 669 film and have to shoot digital again

How can you not have room for a tripod? Worst case scenario you end up hooking a leg through a bag strap of some kind or carry it. With your hands.

I hate carrying a tripod. It's not that there really "isn't room"...it's just really annoying. Carrying it slows me down. It's especially annoying when climbing. They get caught in caged ladders. And if you're free-climbing anything more risky than a ladder, then you definitely should leave the tripod on the ground.

Although I don't know if this shoulder stock thing is a very good solution. I've tried carrying a monopod exploring and it was absolutely useless. I wouldn't see this being any better. Same for any of the other body-mounted tripods like the ones that mount to a small chest harness or a belt. I really want a gorrillapod:

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..." -Dr. Suess

gorilla pods are good, but I find they are just a bit too bulky.

I've used 'the pod' and freaking love the thing. Just don't open the bottom or the filling will come out and it's a nightmare to put back in.

I made a damn nice case for my last tripod a couple of years ago, before i lost the tripod itself (which was a 50 year old heirloom from my grandmother ) It consisted of a PVC body, painted black and lined with leather, attached with rivets and epoxy, and it had a series of leather straps that buckled onto the head of the tripod, securing it. I've been meaning to see if it'll fit my current $30 Walmart tripod, perhaps with a recoil unit that'll make it easy to keep up with, but i haven't gotten around to it. :/
