Well, what happened was that a clerk probably didn't know what they were doing. That, or because the light in those photos is so crappy, they may not have realized that it was between frames. Obviously the computer didn't.

The photos were upside-down on the CD MOST LIKELY because (if your clerk knew what they were doing) one end of the film was eaten up. This is entirely possible and GENERALLY accompanies shitty photo quality like this, as well as disposable pictures, old film, film left in heat, and film someone sucked at loading/unloading from their own camera.

Is there anything written on the front of the envelope?

If not, call them with the envelope in hand and be ready to give them the envelope number. Explain that the photos on the CD were upside-down and you were wondering why. Also tell them that one of the photos that ended up on the CD (did you get prints, too?) is between frames and not centered correctly.

However, don't go at them with the attitude that you seem to have here. That's not going to get you anything, especially since it could probably have been avoided by something you'd done in the first place. I've found that 9/10 times, this is because the clerk got wayyyy too busy to have to baby-sit every single one of your photos because YOU didn't get enough light to make a difference.

If the light had been fine and it had not been your fault at all, the clerk would have scrolled through the first few pictures and noticed that the frames were off. That's standard and the only reason it fucks up beyond that is because the photo quality sucks.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that your film was probably in a disposable camera, and a shitty one, at that. It was probably too eaten by the camera on one end to put it in right side up.

Did you get the film back?
If that's not the case, they can fix this stuff for you. Just be nice and don't go in there demanding anything and saying THEY SCREWED UP. It is a stupid error that could have been prevented by you, in the first place.

Sorry, I probably forgot my <sarcasm> tags.

A word of advice man..watch your clutch. Its easier to bump unlocked then you think and keep your film tight up on the roll. Wind it backwards just a hair every once in a while.

did you pay them for all these pic's?

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

Okay I just have to say that when I read this and realized that you missed my point entirely, I sat for a minute and wondered if it was even worth my time to reply. Please re-read my last post.

1. The pics that aren't centered correctly (like the on you posted) are from the scanner not being able to differentiate between separate frames. This is due to the horribly low light. The clerk can fix this, but they'll have to baby-sit it and go through, frame by frame.

2. Is there an end of your film that seems to be eaten up? If so, it HAD to be put in upside-down, because your camera probably ate it. That or the film was cheap, etc. Otherwise, it was probably accidental.

Just go back into Walgreen's and show them. But don't act like a jerk (YOU SCREWED THIS UP). All you have to do is show them and they'll offer to fix it.

Sorry, I probably forgot my <sarcasm> tags.

Wallgreens in short is horrid at anything film related. i say that as someone who develops pictures for a photo specialty store all the time. and one of the biggest things we run into is a poorly done printing and cd creation. if you want it done right go somewhere where they know what they're doing. not trained to hit buttons with no knowledge of the process.

Not really. I know plenty about the process and knew what I was doing. You get some people who don't give a shit at any type of photo developing place, regardless of what it is. You're simply more likely to draw camera fanatics to a photo specialty store. Walgreen's employees are not trained to simply hit buttons. I mean. I guess I could have for some things, but I took great care to make sure that things were clean and done correctly. I really doubt that you're developing these in a dark room, too. We used literally the same machines that the "Camera Corner" store down the street used, but we were cheaper. And we did have our share of regular photographers and we ensured that their photos came out exactly as they'd intended in the editing process.

I say all this as a former photo specialist at Walgreen's.

And for God's sake, people, it has ONE L.

Did you know that Walgreen's has raised their prices? Now, CVS (less trained than Walgreen's, though!) and Wal-Mart (also less trained) are cheaper.

I think that now, Walgreen's MIGHT have comparable prices to your local photo specialty store.

OK, i when i said "wallgreens" (i misspell it because of my disdain for them). and i know photo specialists at wallgreens. they (being the majority) and i have used a lot of wallgreens store to develop just to test this theory. they (being the majority) are little about the end product and more about getting it done. sure there may be some that develop very well and do there jobs to a T but in all of the places i went to i have met one person that cared what the photo's looked like. they may be clean and fast but the images they print more often then not are miss colored or darker than they should.
in short people will always be a exception to a rule but were not speaking of one person, we are speaking of quality overall

.19 cents for a 4x6's isn't that bad. that's my photo specialty store. plus it goes down to .15 then .11 if you order. so the idea that specialty places charge lots is wrong. most of them lowered prices tons after wallgreens and wallmart and even some grocery stores offered developing.

LOL OOOOOOOOOHHHHH I'll bet that really cooks their noodles! Hurts their feelings! And erupts so much chaos in the life of the entire Walgreen's corporation that they cry and drink themselves to sleep every night!

Many photo employees, not being as nosey as I am, don't realize that there is an automatic setting to "enhance" photos. That has to be turned off if you're bringing in edited photos that you have the color absolutely perfect on. This is because the overwhelming majority of photos that come through Walgreen's are rolls of film from people who aren't photographers. Their film generally needs a pick-me-up. Simply asking that the "enhance" option be turned off will fix that problem.

I never, ever had any issues at my store with color. But that is because we actually did the regular upkeep of the machines. I mean, they have sensors that let you know when the chemicals are fucked up. It is pretty difficult to get the colors to actually be incorrect in the machines. Like I said, it is probably from the "enhance" setting being on because it didn't get turned off (generally one should inform the specialist if the photos have already been enhanced and whether they want them enhanced).

.19 cents for a 4x6's isn't that bad. that's my photo specialty store. plus it goes down to .15 then .11 if you order. so the idea that specialty places charge lots is wrong. most of them lowered prices tons after wallgreens and wallmart and even some grocery stores offered developing.

Like I said. If they're having problems with that Walgreen's, they should just go to a comparably-priced photo specialty store. In his case, though, since he already paid, he should go and have them fix it. And YES, for his photos, they SHOULD PROBABLY leave the "enhance" option ON.

I had customers who would come in and ONLY allow their film to be developed by me or the head manager. There were others who didn't know everything like we did, or wouldn't go above and beyond what we're even supposed to do to help them out.

Generalizing doesn't exactly cover it, though. The store trains people pretty well.... it is whether you get employees that follow that training or not, and are interested in the process to nose around and figure every little thing out.
