I've been to hundreds of places and I've spent the night in quite a few and I can guarantee that there are no ghosts. If there were these would have been the places for them and there weren't any. so there

Perfectly stated. Once you spend more time in places where people have died, then in your own home, you will know that ghosts do not exist.

This debate has been going on and on for as long as I can remember.
Nomatter how much evidence We show you, those who are convinced not to believe will always dismiss it as false. I've just decided to stop bothering even trying to convince narrow-minded people of anything anymore.
On top of that, nomatter how much evidence you yourself experience, you will also dismiss that as something else as well.
So until you decide to open your eyes there's really nothing that's going to convince you.
Those who have convinced themselves it's false will believe as such, and those who know the truth of it will also believe as such.

The simple fact is the minority of hauntings are even intelligent, most are just residual, or "echos", and of those, the EXTREME minority are 'out to get you'
My sister's house is haunted and she's lived in peace with it for many years. Sure you have to work around things sometimes, but it's either live with it or move out, and it's not like it's a big deal anyway.

Not every ghost is a cardboard cutout from The Poltergeist, or The Exorcist, or what have you
Just like not every boyfriend is a cookie cutter of Edward

...not that anyone would want that =.=

P.S.
I personally think TAPS is a rather good team

You obviously haven't met them, have you? Sure what they put out is cute. It's a good idea, but even they know they're full of shit. Look closely at the episodes. There's one where they comment on seeing something move on a bed, but when the camera pans over, you can see someones foot on the bed. And they're not experts, they're plummers. If anyone claims to be a paranormal "expert", they're most likely full of shit - the only exception being Loyd Auerbach.

Now I'm not saying I don't believe. I do and I have my own reasons for such, but I am also a hardcore skeptic. As soon as someone tells me something is haunted, I automatically look for explanations for why it's NOT. People are easily lead to believe in things that aren't so. Ever notice how TAPS almost never really find anything except for a few obscure noise patterns? There was no wind that night so it must be a ghost, right?

Bah. I don't feel like ranting about this anymore. Discussions like these rarely go anywhere. Good for you for being genuinely interested though. You don't come across as being an "orb chaser". There's too many idiots running around with a point-and-shoot and wild imagination that make the field look bad.

But evidence isn't proof. I'm a dedicated watched of GH, and occasionally watch Paranormal State for a laugh, but even the most compelling evidence they've collected still isn't proof that ghosts exist, at least as we commonly define ghosts. I have no explanation for a lot of the evidence that they collect (the Civil War dude on the thermal in Arkansas is a perfect example) but to go back to a default explanation of "If we can't explain it, it must be a ghost) is wrong as well.

Do I believe in ghosts? I can't really say. I do think, though, that hauntings deserve serious scientific investigation, not a bunch of goofy college kids and Chip Coffey thinking every noise they hear is a ghost, or two plumbers from Rhode Island. I'd really like to see TAPS send separate, independent teams to their locations to see if they can get duplicate results. And not Steve & Tango going in after Jason & Grant. When scientific studies are published, they go through peer review, where other scientists try to duplicate the results, or in this case, collect similar evidence. TAPS should do the same.

I miss Donna, though. Rawr!

Science!

Yeah, but the main problem with that is the science we know is very limited. We know next to nothing about the "paranormal" so testing in any way is going to be extremely complicated and produce little results.

Many phenomena occur that we do not fully understand, and can not yet adequately examine under the scientific method. There must exist many things we'd call 'supernatural' today, and science in 500 years.

That said, I don't believe ghosts exist and are either incorrectly interpreted circumstance or outright fabrication -- both behaviors very common to the human condition.

I leave room for the possibility of a supernatural world... ghosts, angels, demons... but I have not experienced it, have seen no evidence of it, and the most compelling accounts (mostly historical) are not falsifiable and therefore irrelevant to the discussion.

No, I've never met them. And you can't honestly say they're not better than all the other BS shows that put their stuff on TV., yes TAPS has flaws, it's not an exact science, and yes they shouldn't pretend they know everything, but you have to admit they're good for someone who is genuinely interested to learn with. They put you off the dust-orbs right away, and teach debunking, and that's really the most important skills IMO

And yeah, as a photographer, I know what dust looks like

I guess they're good to learn what kind of equipment to use, and how to go about a relatively organized investigation, but I tend to go with my Native side and just leave the dead alone.

Also good

Just like UEing, ghost hunting holds interest for some people, where others simply don't give a damn.

Obligatory periodic reminder:

We do actually have a private board for ghosts and hauntings and such, should anyone wish to discuss such things and remain relatively unmolested.

I was told (Though I never actually looked for myself) when I went to the local meetup there was a discussion about private boards on UER
the general consensus was that they thought a non-full member couldn't access the private boards.

Nope, shouldn't be a problem! Just pop over to the list of private boards and you should be able to subscribe to anything that catches your interest.

I liked how in one episode they made a HUGE deal over a demonic entity fucking with this one family, but the occult chick just went outside and did the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram (extremely simple banishing ritual) and everything was peachy.

I know right and ya notice thats how most of the episodes are, I mean really they managed to find someone being possesed etc for every episode. In that case we are all screwed. Believe in ghosts or not...say the magic words and its all better? How about go get your head checked and it'll be better. Lol

If ghosts existed, from the number of asylums/hospitals/state schools/sanatariums/prisons/etc that I've been to for extended periods of time, including multiple overnight stays... I'd like to think I'd have seen/heard something by now.

Really.

If someone can show up for 30 minutes OUTSIDE a location and see "faces" in windows, how is it I can spend 36 consecutive hours in a place that was on the top of Freeman's lobotomy tour, over 8 hours in a places where hundreds of thousands of immigrants died of contagious disease, in labor, and without any semblance of human contact outside of orderlies, and not see/hear/sense anything? The list can go on.

Probably cause people like to posit that there's more than meets the eye. Something more to life to make it more fascinating. Sometimes there is. Sometimes there isn't.

Ghosts aren't one of those things that is.

Get down, girl, go 'head, get down.
