Im going to say,the new Brandiz hotel, the former howard.
And yes, there the Tiki room in the Waldorf that is open the last weekend of every month .
I've been trying to find old pics of the Dorf, but no luck.
It used to have an amazing neon sign out front that has been replaced with the one thats there now.

According to locals that I've talked to,back in the day there used to be a waterfall in the lobby, along with a huge dining room, and 3 more bars.
It was pretty fancy in the heyday.

And the hawaian village was awesome.Built by the owners of Coconuts on kingsway, which is why they were both styled the same. The building is still there, but its a generic chinese restaurant now.

Horsemeat you say?
Yup.down the block from the patricia hotel.Building is still there.

Oh my god the Burnaby Hotel....ha, we had a scream in there when we were 15-16. You could go in there nad sit and smoke pot and drink at that age. The old guys behind the bar just didn't give a shit.

Then of course it's stumble to crackhouse/brothel and then gone.....Condos O think now......Good times though.

You're not kidding... when I was scouting it when it closed, circling the area, the hookers thought I was looking for them...

Nice work Slice, it is indeed the Brandiz Hotel.

BTW, a neat little group on Flickr, for those who are inclined called Vancouver then and now:

As for your photos Slice, the Hoho Chop Suey restaurant is at the south east corner of Pender & Columbia beside the New Sun Ah Hotel. That shot is taken from the south side of the 100 block of E Pender looking east. Shows Chinatown from a nicer era.

Your second photo is a very nice one of the Clarence Hotel Pender & Seymour. I haven't seen that particular photo before, it's nice and clear.

It's too bad they've gotten rid of the decorative cornices.

From Vancouver then & now:

The first pic is the Ho Ho now.
The rest are a few more oldies.
The interior shot is wort tons of points.
A hint for it; it is still on hastings street, was open up until feb of this year. The neon sign still stands aligned,,but has long since stopped keeping time.
And a hint for the other one..where girls at once got naked for money, now you can buy a latte with honey.

The interior shot is beautiful, the old bar at the Balmoral Hotel. The round pillars are still there (in the lobby too) but are hidden behind modern day renovations. The interior today is virtually unrecognizable.

Hard to imagine knowing what it has become, that this was a decent place back in the day.
