| | Fantasy Garden, Richmond - Steveston Hwy and No. 5 rd. < on 8/12/2009 4:52 AM >
| | | Noticed it for the first time last weekend when driving by with a friend. Really want to go back. Does anyone know anything about it or checked it out already? Looks pretty cool but didn't have my camera at the time and was on my way to work so couldn't stop. And does anyone know what happened to the really cool pics of the cars under the bank pics at the golden ears bridge? I wanted to show them to someone but can't find them anymore.

| | | Christ the last time I was there was 21 years ago taking my newborn daughter for a stroll. I look over at it almost every day when I pass, it might be cool just to take another little stroll. This time for free. N.

| | | I was in there about 3 years ago filming a TV show...its completely empty. The gardens are overrun, but it is still complete . It was recently sold again, with the new property owners having a town hall meeting to see what the public thinks.Should it be razed, saved, rebuilt, etc. http://www.canada....ce9db705d8&k=86266

| | | Just signed up for this site. It's really interesting, and this place seemed to be the easiest to get to, so today a couple of my friends and I went out there. It's definitely really run down, most of the buildings are just filled with junk. I wouldn't be surprised if a homeless person or two (or more) were living there for a while... We found our way into one of the main bigger buildings, but after a couple minutes an alarm started going. Probably just a scare tactic, but we got out of there anyways. Then we found the way in by the [redacted], which I'm assuming someone from this site must have made, in which case, thank you! It was really cool in there, got some nice pictures. Suggestions on where else is cool to explore? I read in one of the other threads about a mine shaft under Capitol Hill in Burnaby? Worth checking out? Edit: please don't reveal entry points [last edit 8/29/2009 5:17 AM by Avatar-X - edited 1 times]

OK...lets set some guidelines now that you are here on this site. First...we try to enjoy sharing this..er...hobby, without revealing TO MUCH INFO about entry points, and to many intimate specifics of sites. Second...It often happens, that when things are talked about, a site gets locked down even harder, or security beefed up. Third....just because someone got in somewhere, it doesn't mean we (here on this, or any UE internet site) found the way in, nor did we make one. The internet is a big place, and has lots of people, some have good intentions, others do not. Some are good folk, others are not. But anyone can view just about anything, including here. I don't think anyone will help you get full member status until...well, you get the idea. OK! Welcome! [last edit 8/29/2009 6:54 AM by SteamPunk - edited 2 times]
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! |

Iqueld lives in Richmond, we should hang sometime (Fantasy Garden is within what Iqueld considers walking distance from his house). Anyhow, the alarm is most likely leftover from when the property was bought by a person who converted it to an oversized store that sold gardening equipment

| | | Unfortunately I went and posted that before looking at the rules and stuff for the forums... My mistake... I should've edited the post myself... Very true, this isn't the only UE forum, not even close. I've learned from my mistakes and will refrain from divulging too many details about further explorations. To Iqueld: I actually don't live in Richmond, I'm in North Van, but I'd be more than happy to join you on some expeditions. I warn you in advance, though, I am a complete rookie, haha.

| | | Apparently it's going to be torn down soon, so I might go out there next week if I can. Even if I don't get in, I've only been there once when they had a mini golf thing in the back...wonder if it's still there. edit: a quick look at google earth suggests yes...recommended equipment may just include a putter and golf balls. | | | When I was there I didn't see anything golf course-y... Maybe what used to be a golf course, but basically everything has been grown over now... It's a really cool place, though, eh? Hey Dogyeaars, did you go into the courtyard place? We considered it, but even though the place is abandoned, that sign stating the courtyard is patrolled by "Full Force Security" made us wary...

| | | Thought I'd push this up after I went there this morning. I tried to get a good look but ran into someone in the parking lot who told me to leave. Should have remembered my camera... And by "this morning" I mean about an hour ago. I'm now comfortably sitting in a coffeeshop on Hastings. [last edit 10/30/2009 5:37 PM by Setar - edited 2 times]

| | | All right, I got in yesterday and managed to get some good pictures before my camera's battery died (I had idiotically not checked it and found out that it was low), though, shortly after that I discovered that there were other people in the park and had to make a quick exit through an entry point I found while inside, probably the same one Gimpster found (I got in the easy way). I didn't get into the courtyard or anything because while I saw an easy way over one of the gates, there was no such way back and I obviously didn't want to be trapped. If anyone's willing to go back with me we can try to get into the courtyard as well as get more pictures of the gardens themselves.

| | | Great stuff! The second one in the last row, going left to right is my fave, the old barn front, and the one before it stands out too. Plus the tower shot is cool.
