Oh... forgot to mention. Hate to burst the bubble on the crematorium idea, but what is in the basement is a common incinerator. Not a crematorium. It is a mechanical room where the heating cooling systems are located and it is often standing in about 2 feet of water.

If I ever open an ice cream shop, I'm going to call it the "Cream-a-torium".

Yeah, we're not gonna get political with it, can't do that, but I'm one of those guys that right now are labeled "right-wing" and I still think the Dixie Chicks are about as un-American as it gets. But that's just my opinion. I don't think the views about gun tottin' Americans comes from the right wing. I think it comes from the mis-representation of Americans and their constitutional rights by Hollywood and others. But I'm just sayin'. Ok, no more politics, I get to have the last word because I'm incredibly correct. Movin' right along, back to our regularly scheduled discussion of haunted hospitals with meth cooking zombies.

| | | Posted by tryon Great story and pics ! Just too bad you couldn't get to the last part, but totally understandable ! (especially when we look at TVs where almost all we see are guns fanatics in the states) It's a good reminder to be very very careful there should a police for abandoned building to protects the sites against homeless !
|
the new breed of homeless in Texas is typically not so much gun fanatical as they are pragmatic to them a gun is just a tool like a hammer or a shopping cart that they use to get what they need, like your camera and your wallet or your girlfriend, all of which they desperately need Raticus can correct me if Im wrong but some PDs tried the "abandoned building task force" approach to this problem but found it was easier just to fine the building owner for letting other citizens trash the place, thereby creating a revenue positive situation rather than an expense/drain on manpower. now that municipal govts are being offered free stimulus monies to add cops you may see a come back in these abandonment squads like we had at the Mercantile Bldg. they usually get outfitted with all the latest tac gear and lasers on their sub machine guns and even their sniper rifles hallelujah

You are right and those laser sub machine gun powered sniper rifles scare the hell out of me. Or, at least they would if I weren't so awesome and dreaded by the masses.

| | | My money is on meth lab...propped doors for air circ...Bums have no reason to run at you...hidden place outa the way...I would call your local PD and tell them you suspect a meth lab...despite messing up a spot to UE, meth is ruining people's lives and the cookers don't care much who they hurt. I dunno if it is a meth lab, but i would call even if I only suspected something like that...i guess i am militant about the drug thing but i watched a family member essentially die because of it Great story! liked the shots...makes me wanna go UE right now

That, of course, assumes that the local cops aren't either running the show or profiting from it.
Deputy Faces Federal Magistrate 07/20/09 - Former Hockley County Chief Deputy Gordon Bohannon faces a federal magistrate and pleads not guilty. During Monday's arraignment detention hearing transcripts of a wiretap performed by federal agents reveal Bohannon repeatedly warned Bobby Froman, the suspected head of a drug ring that his house was under surveillance by narcotics agents. Prosecutors also deem Bohannon a danger to others, and a danger to the community. Bohannon's one of 28 suspects arrested in a massive round up across West Texas one week ago. Another Hockley County Sheriffs Deputy narcotics investigator Jose "Jesse" Quintanilla is free on a personal recognizance bond following a hearing in Lubbock federal court friday.

I say, yes, do call and report what you saw. But don't use your own phone... maybe find a pay phone. In another county.

But you have to be "up close and personal" to use the blade. Of course, in some situations, that might be a good thing. Maybe I should start carrying my tomahawk.

| | | I've been in the same situation. We decided to push our luck and wander into a worse part of town than usual - therefore we were all a little nervous. As we walked into a building, we came to the stairs up and saw a homeless dude standing there who instinctively started scurrying towards us (this was at 1 or 2 in the morning as well)... ...we did the same as you, we ran the fuck outta there.
