| | | Yeah, that is a bit noisy for iso 80. They're fantastic shots non the less, I certainly like the stairs leading down (1) and the one of that couple really gives a cool look, their facial expressions also are great =p I can't seem to find anything particular to complain about but, who am I to complain. What are you shooting with?

I'm using a Canon Powershot SX110is, which is designed (and quality-controlled) for up to a 15-second shot. Them I'm screwing around with it to do minute-long exposures. That's lower noise than taking the ISO up to 400 (4x ISO or 4x time eh), and I get finer control over the light. I could definitely take cleaner pictures by throwing $450 at a Rebel something, but I'm waiting for Canon to wake up and stop only having good sensors with prism mechanism DSLRs. They could totally make my dream camera, but right now it's too expensive to get a regular-shutter, high-quality sensor in a Canon body with changeable lenses. At least by then I'll have a firm understanding of how to take advantage of any photons I can - and lightpainting cranes is WAY more fun than just standing around for a 5-minute shot anyhow. Maybe it's a waste of time to spend so much effort on a medium-quality sensor and point-and-shoot frame camera, but hey - we all gotta have a hobby! Also it's pocket-size. EDIT: I guess I should reply to people.

lol! Aurelie and I look fucking creepy in #3. Great pictures! You should post a cropped enlarged version of #6 so you can see us up there on the crane. I had a great time, as I ALWAYS do in your city. I'm sure Chloe and I will be back soon! We're back in Charlotte now but we're going to Columbia, SC tonight.

I think these are awesome for the sx110 maybe because I have a SX10is. How big is the sensor on that camera? Also can't you turn down the iso more with CHDK? I haven't messed with it that much on mine but I thought you could set a custom iso lower than available through the factory settings? Anyways I think your doing alright. I've thought about going DSLR too but then I look at lenses and prices and it scares me back into keeping my canon. I guess thats just preference, but I think these are great cameras for exploring. I know the quality isn't as good but you don't have the size, weight, extra expense, and bulkiness of interchangeable lens camera's. And they are still a big step above the average point and shoot and CHDK only makes that better.
